DAY 8 Flower

One week passed and they all came out as female which is nice. The smallest was removed and at this time I am keeping 3. My biggest issue has been humidity. In my tent it is 10 points higher than it is outside the tent. Even with negative pressure and fans blowing inside I just couldn't get it to go down. The bushy plants were really holding it. The older leaves have seen some mold so going against my own wish, I did some defoliation (I wanted to wait until after stretch - day 21).

Now the humidity dropped quickly back down to about 50% and things are humming again. I know this will have stunted some growth but surprisingly the plants don't seem to mind much at all. On with the experimenting.

I have found on one of my plants an interesting thing. On my bottom left plant I was a bit heavy handed a few weeks ago and broke one of the shoots off where I had been topping. This meant that one side just had one node while the other had 2. The side with 1 has grown very strong with a thick stem while the side with 2 has remained quite thin and it hasn't reached the canopy height. I need to get a closeup picture of that (lights are off so tomorrow).

DAY 17

The grow continues. It has a ton more leaf now and I think I will just leave it as they are. You can see it has really filled out from all the leaf picking I did a few days back. Flowering nicely and some very fine frost has began to show on the sugar leaves.

I'm back! It has been 2 and a half week since I last saw my plants. I've been on a little holiday with my family so I had to leave them alone for a good while.

I was fearing the worst to be honest. Since I was on holiday .. before I left I had to move my grow room. In the process I somehow bumped the light switch timer on and only noticed the next day. So far too much light. This was meant to be my flush before travel day but I didn't want to stress the plants more so I left them. They were looking damn good.

In the next few days I was packing so I had no time to really check on my plants. The day that I was meant to leave I noticed that the leaves on two plants had yellowing leaves. I ph'ed the runoff and found in those two plants had a value of 4.5. So flushing I went. The plant in the back left looked good and since I was short on time I left it.

So after a quick flush later, timers all set for both lights and feeding I left for a holiday. Arriving home I took a first look. Shame that I had no pictures of this but my phone was dead. They lived!

Day 38

There was some damage but overall everything made it through. I had flooding in two trays but those two plants looked the best. They were also the two that I had flushed. The other was mashed. Took a real beating. It will live but complete lockout it looked to me. Nothing working in that root system. The first thing I did was to pull all the plants out of the tent and flush them correctly. Pulled their ph runoff from around the 4.4 mark up to 6.0. I'm watching the damaged one so I swap the two plants of the left side.

All three so far. I have about 15cm more in height to lift my lights.
2015-08-20 16.17.53.jpg
This is the one that took the damage.

These are the colas from the other two plants

The left top is now the healthest plant.

Had some yellowing leaves but all good.

They are 40cm or 16 inches. It's not light burn. My ec is too high I noticed so I have a little repair work to do. No worries.

how close did you put the light? My buds are really small for the amount of time that has gone into them. Something doesn't add up as this looks to be a poor harvest. Still 3 weeks to go but it isn't looking too promising.

mine were really close... like 15 cms or so. and it turned out with very long, dark, skinny leaves.. big buds though... however it started to lose colour very soon with yellow spots here and there. You shouldn't worry too much about yield on the first run... I mean you said it yourself lights aren't the problem

yea it seems to me that I followed the wrong advice on this run. 16inches for the cxb3070 just doesn't seem to be working. I asked someonone in another thread who just pulled a nice harvest with the same lights and he has them normally 25cm - 10 inches and closest is 15cm - 6 inches.

I need to drop my lights. Tonight I will drop them down to 20 ~ 25cm and see from there.

25 cm sounds about right!

I've learnt a lot on this run.

First of all training. I've hacked away at my plants good and proper, from LST, topping, defoilation, mainlining, supercropping and lolliepopping.

From there it is feeding. I've gone from under feeding them and letting the dry out to over feeding my plants. They took it pretty well overall but for my next run I will go lighter on the nutes but keep up the number of feedings.

I think I am starting to understand how I can use EC rating. I used to have a real high EC from the bucket. I just put it down to HESI nutes and carried on. I found out that it was me adding too much epsom salts. I hope to balance this out better on my next run. My base water has an EC rating of 0.7. from there I add 0.5 worth of nutes giving me an EC rating of 1.2

Using these new lights. I used to get light bleching on my top nugs so this time I tried to follow what others were doing. Looks like I needed to be much closer.

cool bro! It takes a few runs to dial in everything especially with new equipment. I'm nearing the end of my first led run too and learned a lot from spacing at different heights. Big buds is not 100% lights so don't worry too much about distance being too long. I think 30 cm or more is where the ballpark is at

It's been a while since last update. Lights are lower and plants don't look great. I have found a few seeds in some popcorn buds so that means a plant hermied on me. Since haven't found where. This will explain why my bud are pretty damn small.

These were all taken on Day 46

2015-08-28 15.02.28.jpg 2015-08-28 15.02.39.jpg 2015-08-28 15.02.48.jpg

I don\t know how much has been seeded but I am going to try to go ~63 days with her anyway. Still hoping it might fatten up. I am going to feed until sunday and then the water flush will begin.

Day 50

2015-09-01 20.25.22.jpg

Here is where I am now.

I'm also working on my next round. Trainwreck and Blue dream. I am going to mainline each one as I have learnt how to do it ... kind of.

Day 1 Veg (Thursday 28th August)

Day 5 Veg (Tuesday 1 September)

You might see the one on the right has a twin. Trainwreck came out with a twin which I have now cut off. The bluedream is growing the quickest. It was the first seed to pop from the ground even though the Trainwreck popped first. The bluedream is about 1 day ahead in growing. 7 week total veg time so I hope to have them ready for new year.

well this grow is pretty much a write off. Cut one plant down as it was the hermie that screwed me.

2015-09-08 14.34.18.jpg here it is before the chop.

and after
2015-09-08 15.34.25.jpg 2015-09-08 15.34.36.jpg

oh what could have been if I didn't screw up. It was going to go purple too. I've done a few things wrong in this grow as this is my worst result ever. I might get 10 grams of worth while bud off this plant. oh well.

2015-09-08 16.30.55.jpg2015-09-08 16.53.22.jpg 2015-09-08 16.53.27.jpg 2015-09-08 16.57.20.jpg

This is the structure of the plant which was okay. Need to lollipop better still. The root ball wasn't well formed. I started heavy watering too early in the life cycle so the roots hadn't pushed throughout the pot. Growing my roots is one of my goals in my current grow.

Day 14 of veg (yesterday)

2015-09-09 08.23.49.jpg 2015-09-09 08.24.36.jpg

Here is my blue dream and trainwreck. I have repotted them (day 15) but don't have any pictures. I have been feeding them and waiting for it to dry out about 50% while only feeding at 1/3 strength. I feed them 75% strength yesterday. Today I repotted them and feed the 1/4 strength but full strength root stim. I will feed them again on Saturday or Sunday depending on how much they drink. About 500ml of water is what I want to put in with drips of runoff.

ayy the new plants are looking good if you ask me. It's a shame the last grow was a disappointment but hey head's up at least you got some purple smoke and it looks like more than 10 grams as far as I can see :D

The final chop has come. Today I took down two plants and got them ready for drying. Yield is very low but because I waited just a little longer .... the high is a happy one. It should be enough to last until the next grow. So overall .... I'll be happy. :D

I have a ton of popcorn .... it was interesting to look at the two plants. I see now where I have to lollipop for the next grow and this grow showed me that mainlining really does much better.

2015-09-16 11.25.52.jpg 2015-09-16 11.25.58.jpg
The mainline and the 4 way.

2015-09-16 14.43.41.jpg
As you can see the mainline is much stronger

2015-09-16 14.47.55.jpg 2015-09-16 15.08.10.jpg
Cut from the plant. Nothing amazing but ... still puts a smile on my face.

2015-09-16 16.06.09.jpg
This is the mainlined plants with popcorn removed. The 4 way had less popcorn/buds.

So now it goes like this. Popcorn is going to be used now while my buds dry/cure. The first plant is in a little jar with a note to myself not to rob it until the 20th. I might extend that until the 25th. The 4 way plant will be in another jar which I can't open until the 25th of October and finally the mainlined can't be used until the 25th of November. I am hoping for 40 grams of smokable buds when dry as that can last a few months. I use about 10 - 20 grams a month.
