really nice, just love oil

and like the way you work every drop of propane out of it (must try that one day) in this clip

Ya I'm using Colibri and the MSDS says its %78 n-butane and only %22 propane. Love the muffin push ups though. Probably should have just started o the bottom of the chamber and I may not have had to keep releasing pressure like that.

yes, I like those muffin push ups too but damn that stuff looks extremely underpurged when it goes into the chamber (which is ok)..... mine doesnt muffin nearly that much, or fast, and I think its because I purge mine way way more before putting into the chamber.

do you spray directly onto the parchment paper duffman???

Hope he didn't,(didn't watch the video) but spraying onto parchment is bad news.

I did it myself a few times, then I noticed something... at the very moment the butane hits the parchment/little white flakes are apparent, when I first saw it.. I remember thinking to myself ...

Wtf is that shit?

Well, I believe that” shit” is bits of silicone being ” flaked” away by the initial contact of butane.

I conducted a” test ” by spraying tane directly onto parchment, no cannabis involved, simple experiment..

The results were the same, little flakes of a” waxy ” substance.
I wonder..just how many of us have actually smoked that shit, buying from dispensaries and collectives.

Now, I'm paranoid...thank you VP.. Lol

very interesting experiment!!! I also happen to know that some users perfer the cheap parchment paper as its thicker and works better than the fancy brand name stuff... I can imagine that the cheap stuff has even more of those flakes and shit!!

now im also paranoid, thank you SD! lol

No I don't blast directly onto the parchment. Into the Pyrex.
You're right though, only about a 30min heat purge before going into the vac. Just results in more vac time. IMO it will purge faster in the vac than it will with just heat, if we're talking heat purge time + vac time.

Oh and sirdabsalot, thanks for your 5 paragraph post without even bothering to watch the video.

I DID watch it after I posted brotha..lol

I was just posting my thoughts on VP's last sentence. To ensure other posters ” know not to hit parchment with straight tane.”

Sorry to interrupt your thread sir..

Nice work btw... But, if you let your oil purge a bit more with heat only, utilizing both top and bottom heat, your oil will ” wax” more effectively, by putting the raw oleoresin into the chamber too early, you initiated nucleation. And accelerated the rate of nucleation in the chamber.

Again, I said..nice work though.

BHO, can be a bitch/and be the best thing you've ever had. Hmmm..sounds like my wife..haha
Edit: I just moved Duff, I'm running on 2G-4G hit or miss with the signal.. That's WHY I didn't watch before my post.

This is why I have never used parchment lol
I've even been kinda skeptical about blasting directly onto my slick pad, which is also made from silicone.
For now I just use it for purging only

Sweet man, I just find the longer I heat purge the darker the wax becomes. Even at 110. Ill do a longer heat purge on the next one and post results.
Cheers

Cool Duff..

Just trying to lend a tip or two..

I've switched over to ” sand baths” as opposed to water baths.
Sand conducts heat remarkably and has the ability to retain that heat remarkably also.

With water, moisture in the form of steam is brought to the table.. That moisture always found it's way into my oil, causing” nucleation”

IMO..there is nothing wrong with nucleated oil, it's grainy and cake-like texture, hard to work with. Still just as effective..

I think the color was gorgeous btw.

Looking forward to more Duffman runs.

Cool how do u heat the sand?

I have recently stopped hot water baths for my heat purge. I just use my hot plate now.

pick up some reptile sand form the pet store..

( i think any soft sand will do then job, but what ever sand you use, make sure heat doesn't bring out weird smells..)

i use a griddle dish, (not the flat hot plate, but the 10x10 inch electric deepish dish..)

i fill it up about half way with sand..

i set the heat, and level the sand accordingly across the dish, so that when i take a heat reading, every single surface area of the sand is exactly the same temp...

this is soooooo comforting,, my shit realllly has an even purge now.. and i can basically judge my oil to be just a few degrees F cooler than my sand..

as long as i know my sand isnt exceeding the temp i want, im gooood :]

i used about 1.5 inches of sand.

i started off with hot water baths
then went straight to flat dry griddle,

now im into this sand shit! :]

That seems like a great way to get a nice even perfect heat purge. I already manage to get crap everywhere when I'm making it now, if I bring sand into the picture my wife may leave me.

If she ends up leaving me for some other rwason I'll have to give that a try

lolll. i was afraid of a sandy mess at first.. but its actually staying pretty clean. i just dont move my stuff around a lot. the even purge is sooo sexy :]

Interesting...Reptile sand you say. Are you still using the vacitpro guzias? What's the problem with putting it directly on the griddle?

Guzias1

yurpp, still on the vac it pro. i see some small cracks starting to appear on the lid.. probably cuz i've fallen asleep leaning over it a few times lately :p its all good, aint nothing like vacpurge

the problems i faced with griddles are inconsistent heat.. many a times, only chunks of my oil would purge. and or i would over purge chunks., leaving a very inconsistent purge.. now. i have a surface with heat ranging only 1-2F across my entire surface.. and it is pretty damn controlled.

i do wish i could have an automatic temp adjuster, rather than a manual one.. heat temps change through out the day, so my purging temps vary as well.

The sand was suggested to provide even and consistent , without bringing steam into the picture.

A lot get confused...

The sand does not go in the chamber, it heats the outside of the chamber, not just the bottom, but sand can be” packed” up the side-wall of the chamber providing a more consistent temp in the oil..

The deep-dish griddle is the way to go when using sand to conduct and hold heat.
Edit>:(Guzias, have you looked into the Nu-wave induction cook-top yet?

That thing is THE most accurate surface temp provider that us regular peeps can get.

Goes up and down on extremely accurate increments of 10°.
