I may be wrong but I believe Shantibaba was the creater of white rhino. He changed the name of white rhino to medicine man he was also the creater of white widow which he now calls black widow. He used to be the breeder for greenhouse seeds but now shares and runs a seed company with howard marks (a famous hashish and marijuana smuggler from the UK). When he moved his operation to switzerland (because he had a large contract with some sort of hemp company/operation, and because you can no longer grow outdoors in holland) he changed companys and changed names. His purpose for changing the names was because many other seed companies claim to have his strains like white widow when really they have developed a strain of their own with a cutting of his white widow. He claims to still have the original white widow as well as other plants in clone form. He now operates for mrnice seed company www.mrnice.nl is the website. Shantibaba is considered one of the best marijuana breeders in the world along with the haze brothers (I dont know much about them just that they were the ones with the real haze and from cali), the breeder for flying dutchmen (I forget his name), ben dronkers of sensi seeds, neville schoenmakers and sam the skunk man. These names are famous for the fact that they were some of the best breeders in Hollands beginning cannabis scene and mainly started the whole seed front by introducing amazing genetics to holland but I would say there are probably many breeders at their level and possibly beyond in this underground world of cannabis. There is a lot of hype about seed companys and a lot of skeewed info. Lots of money involved and no regulation as well as a lot of stupid stoners who believe if they buy a certain seed there weed will turn out to be fantastic. Genetics are very important but you must be a good grower to produce a plant that reaches its full potential.

Im sure I'm leaving many great breeders names out. Dutch passion and paradise seeds are legit, as well as new school breeders but old school growers like subcool of TGA seeds and mandala mike of mandala seeds. Subcool has his own thread in the organic section and regularly visits this website. Its the only reason I got an account here.
I know I really rambled on in the last post but i guess I was saying that if you want white rhino you might as well go with what the original breeder, Shantibaba, is selling as medicine man read the description on mrnice.nl and check out his forums for more info

Why is greenhouse bad?

I dont know if greenhouse is bad, I've never ordered from them. Shantibaba used to be the breeder for greenhouse seed company before he sold his share and left to switzerland. Greenhouse is all about the money and make claims that are not true. A lot of success that greenhouse seed company claims is actually success that was achieved while Shantibaba was their breeder, for example they claim to have been the original breeders of white rhino and white widow which is true but it was shanti who ran greenhouse seed company at that time. When super silver haze, white rhino, white widow, and other strains were being entered and winning the first high times cannabis cups in the 90's under greenhouse seed co shantibaba was the breeder. It seems as though Greenhouse is able to use past glories to convince people to buy from them when now they are an entirely different company. Greenhouse seed company actually owns three coffeeshops in Holland and are nice coffeeshops. From my understanding they are not breeders they are business men. They make a lot of money and sell a lot of seeds (possibly sell more seeds than anyone) but they are not the best by any means.

But the strain hunters idea that arjan and franco (who now run greenhouse seeds) are doing is pretty awesome. They travel to places where people have been growing marijuana outdoors for many years, bring them back to Holland and are on a mission to develop strains that have been lost. Strains such as Malawi Gold and I think their himalya gold they offer right now was developed from one of their strain hunting missions. Breeders are no longer able to grow and breed large operations outdoors in Holland. Many people believe that breeding outdoors is the best way to develop strains. I would agree but there are also places where marijuana grows much better outdoors thats why I believe you will always find the best strains in places such as California.

my last grow was greenhouses big bang,white widow,himalaya gold and cheese and gotta say the himalaya gold had a good yield and me and my mates thought it was the best strain we had smoked in a long time. i personally have never had any problems with greenhouse 100% germ rates and have never had a hermie from them. im goona try there white rhino and bubba kush next grow.
