Nice find brother Tex.

My concerns are the welds...

They don't look too good, but I'm no welder, so what do I know?

But there are better systems out there that hold MUCH more than 60 grams that cost just a little more than this unit.

Red Beard is looking very good, for a very good price.

They are just getting off the ground production wise, units are gorgeous and well thought out.

Priced very reasonably for the product.

The CLS market is skyrocketing as of late.

Their Web site is shitty right now, in the beginning stages.

I was reading some of his posts and he broke pricing down on the post, because the site will say” inquire for pricing”

Their 150 gram unit is 1300 I believe.

actually that looks like what i am looking for, the laws in CO require a closed loop.... but they way i blast, i require my material to be packed into the chamber then frozen..... almost every closed loop system i have seen has the valves and what not attached to the chamber so when reaching the low temps of -70 to -100 i have been told they will fail....
In theory i want to have a bunch of columns/chambers like i do with my glass tubes...

i started reading it, the filter this unit uses is is 120 microns your coffee filter is 10 to 20 microns

twitch keep a look out for the old style 700E tami Columns are separate from the valves unlike the widemouth model 700e are now

hey twitch, if a coffee filter uses such a small ug size, why do most bubble bag kits use such large size ug for their filters? i know a lot of the bags for bubble are used for working, but i thought that the best hash out of bubble came out of say the 75 ug bag.. (i'm just making these numbers up off the top of my head, the point being though why do bubble bags use such a bigger ug screen then what is used for bho basically).. ty.

The Red Beards and I think all of the Terpenator units columns can be detached and packed and frozen before running.

They also use dry ice or a alcohol/salt bath to chill the butane tank way way down to -70, maybe all the way down to -100° F

From the recent reading I've been doing, chilling to these temps using a CLS, have been working to extract and in-line de-wax simultaneously.

RB suggested to use descending micron sized meshes stacked at the normal exit end. This would increase the speed of the in-line dewaxing process.

If I were currently looking for a CLS, I'd highly recommend first the MkIIIa

You'll end up spending just over 2 grand with ALL the necessary equipment, plus all the bells and whistles.
*The most advantageous aspect of buying the MKIII...

We have GW right here to give support and advice when you need questions answered or general guidance with it's nuances.

I am not aware of any of these CLS vendors that include all the other necessaries on order for these units to actually operate..

Like the Butane tank, Recovery pump, you want SS braided hoses, other miscellaneous items...

So even that Best Value CLS, that only holds 60 grams will still cost.about 16,17 hundred dollars.

The Red Beard units are looking VERY good, and I hear that; although this is a very small business right now...their customer service is fantastic.

Their 150 gram unit is 1250$.. That is 150$ more than the Best Value unit, for almost triple the capacity.

Good question..

With bubble hash, we are intentionally allowing particulate through the holes, but big enough to capture the glands.

The micron size is important to separate plant matter, dust, dirt and contaminates from the glands themselves.

When we make oil, plant matter of any kind will contaminate the final product...The glands are dissolved rather than collected (bubble hash), and passed through the coffee filters as a solution.

awesome info sir dabs.. i never really thought of the thc glands being dissolved into the bho for some stupid reason, but i've always wondered about the difference in micron sizes..

Usually , with these CLS it is recommended to use two wadded up coffee filters at both ends of the column for extra filtration, also seen where guys are adding a finer mesh in addition to the supplied mesh that comes with the system.

Basically, in Organic chemistry there are two things. The Absolute and the Concrete.
Any extraction that I know of, will get both. Collecting cold tricome heads by rinsing thru micron filters, is not extraction.

The step of winterizing clears out most of the concrete. And micron screen vacuum filtering can deal with the rest.

I use 50 micron fliters for the final pour out of the tranport solvent and still get a little bit of sludge. Any more than that and the vap pen wicks will not work well.

Red Beard is still not there....still in limbo, alas.

Starting a business is a first big step of, Starting the Business. Not easy, and the fun wears off and only comes back later when you make it happen.

Anyone use the closed column pressurized extractor tunes by bestvaluevacs?

They seem pretty legit and also the added benifit of not having to worry about breaking glass!
