Best Results for 3x3 grow box?

Hi,

I'm considering buying a stealth portable grow box and was wondering what light would give me the best results in a 3x3 ft space? considering either a 250w, 400w hps or a 240w LED. which would be most beneficial for me in terms of yield? and also considering getting a co2 release valve. is this really necessary though for such a small space and will it really make any drastic differences to my final yield? NFT system is also available as an option on site. is this worth bothering with? it seems to take up a lot of room, requires some set up and although its automatic I just feel more comfortable growing in 3 pots of coco coir but want to achieve the best results possible. so if NFT is the way to go please tell me why. Thanks. hoping someone can give me some input. not sure on the purchase I should make.... Hoping to yield around 10 oz. is it possible in such a small space? Thanks

10 oz. in a 3x3 could be done by Hudini the great escape artist. That's asking a lot from any cannabis strain. I'd be hoping for a little less than half that much - and that would be under ideal conditions in light, soil, temps... Good luck!

Thanks for the response. i thought it would be a little unrealistic lol but I thought because people can yield that off of 400w hps's or 240w LED's then maybe it could be done. what do you think would be the best option as a choice of light for such a space? is the 240w LED a good choice or a 250w hps instead?

I use the Sun Systems LEC 315w CMH fixture and 10 oz, is towards the low end with decent producing strains. Most recent pull from 3.2 x 3.2 with 4x 5gal plants pulled 376g total, 10 oz of prime bud + 3.5 oz. of popcorn. Only thing with the LEC fixtures is you need 6'-7' in height. They come in a bare bulb setup if you don't have the height or don't want a reflector/hood setup, it's cooler than hps and covers a 3x3 really well.

cool so it is possible :P thats all i needed to know. although that grow space looks bigger than the 1 i had in mind i think lol. that looks like you have 3ft of depth in the space. I meant 3ft tall by 3ft wide. only 40cm or so deep however. hoping to yield 6 oz plus though if i can? possible with 240w LED?

Really? thats pretty impressive. thats over 10 oz. what plants were they? do you recommend a 400w for such a small space? is it not overkill?
Northern Light was the strain, it's heavy yielding, very compact. Keep your plants trained. Provide proper airflow and stable temps. Reflection is key. Don't overfeed. My 2 cents.

I typically run 2x 3x3' to 3.5 x 3.5' in there with 2x 315w LEC's, but I have 7' height. The space you're talking though is really a 1.5' x 3' footprint and only 3ft high. imo a good LED like an A51, 2x RW-75 or 2x RW-100's would cover that space well and allow you to use more of the height, you can get closer with the LED's and less heat to deal with. With that footprint and height best you can hope for is 4-6 oz. depending on strain, you're limited by the height, scrog or sog from clones would be the way to go and fill the whole space with tops but keep them short,

Do you veg and flower with the same LEC bulb? I see you can get a 3000K bubs in LEC which means warm white. I also read someone used this bulb with an HID ballast, but I'm not sure how that would work.

I don't just because I have a bunch of smaller cabinets/tents for vegging, I use LED's in those. They have a 4200k bulb with more blues for vegging and you can cover off a much larger footprint in veg by moving the light up. If I had the space I'd use them.

Thanks for the info. so LED is my best choice for such a space even in a sog or scrog setup then? I think that is the setup i will go for. how much of an impact or difference will a co2 valve make in such a small space? Is it even worth considering?

That's my choice for my small veg cabinets, much easier to deal with heat in small spaces, but I wouldn't recommend anything other than A51 or DIY COBs, I've tried those Chinese LED panels for flowering, although they will flower, the weight you can expect is 50% less than higher end LED's or hps. After trying them (flowering) a couple of rounds I tripled the weight when I switched to CMH using the same grow methods/environment, since then I use the Chinese panels for veg only. As far as C02, it can benefit any space if you can manage the heat in a sealed environment, might be a challenge in such a small space. C02 is something you might try once you get everything else dialed in and want to push the envelope for some extra yield. Cheers.
