LED has so much misinformation you will get 100 different answers on whats best. We would need a budget to give a good answer. For HID it depends on what you want to do, if its Veg then get a 600MH if its flower then a 1000W HPS. Buy used components and new bulbs.

I'm wanting to flower in this tent and the budget is like 300-500

With 500$ you can cover a 4x 4' area with good LED's when you are willing to built it yourself. 4 QB96eliteV2 and 2 HLG-240‘s would be ~550w and it would be pretty easy to assemble them. And when the first run is finished you could invest in the 2nd fixture.

To get a better idea.. Here:s the according thread..

https://www.rollitup.org/t/qb96-elite-v2-w-sstx-heatsink-question.977654/

You could use automatics for the first run to expand the grow area to a 4x 6' or 5x 5' area. Automatics need only 20w/sft cuz of the 20/4h day/night cycles. Good LED's are a long time investment because they run up to 10 years and more and still deliver +90% of the initial output. So it makes sense to get something with bad ass efficiency.
1000w HPS would have 1,3μMol/J efficiency, CMH has ~1,9 and these QB96elite reach up to 2,35μMol/J. Still questions..?

If you want to build the light you should go with Randomblame's idea. If not I would go with a used 1000W HPS (not a DEHPS) with a wide reflector. Cheaper till you can save up a bit more cash.

man I just am not savvy at all with current and voltage and shit, I could learn no doubt, just trying to get good results for the time being. hence why I'm going for HIDs
