Best affordable closed loop system

Looking into getting into extraction as a hobby. only want to do about a quarter of a pound at a time to start with. I keep looking online to buy a kit for closed-loop extraction and I really only see one brand that is Affordable. Bestvaluevacs or something like that. what are everyone's thoughts on this brand and is there anything comparable in that price range looking to spend no more than 600 especially since it's just a hobby. Thanks for your help.

$600 limits you to a small passive system and BVV is the cheapest I'm aware of.

Please do some study before diving in, because BVV is not set up to hold your hand at that price, and you need a few ancillaries like a vacuum pump, baths, instruments, etc. Trust me when I tell you that it is a cleverly disguised rabbit hole like any hobby.....................

There are also some safety issues to consider:

I got a tamisium and couldnt be happier with its performance. it did cost me a few more hundies than 6 though. All I needed to buy extra was
a pack of those plastic liquid filled balls that can be frozen for fake ice. the rest is history. I've had it since 09 I think with no issues. If it was stolen I'd buy another the next day for thought

Thanks for that. I had seen a couple of vids on youtube but hadn't seen that one.

The Tamisium looks cool but it is out of my price range. Also, I am not a fan of butane extracts. It is just harsh and not as clean tasting to me as the other options around here; I am in S Oregon and there are a lot of concentrates available. Maybe I have just been unlucky on the stuff I get.

If you are more into ethanol extractions, check out the ISO-3 and ISO-4. We just received the ISO-4 for testing so haven't published any reports, but will soon.

With either the Source Turbo or the ISO-3/4, we extract using QWET techniques and the units to recover the alcohol, but both are also capable of reflux extraction for those seeking the goodness of full plant extraction.

Build your own ?

You can source half the material from scrap yards for about 2$ a pound, the rest is not that expensive, comparing it to premade systems.

Thanks for the input. After going to the 710 Cup yesterday here in Phoenix and playing with the few different presses I've decided to build one of those I can do a 20-ton and stay in my price range. Have any of you guys had any experience with Low Temp plates?
