Berry Ryder - WTF let's SEED ONE again Doh!!

@bf80255 He mentioned wanting his new strain to be more like BR than AKR, so he'll have to backcross eventually. Doing so 1-3 times in the beginning should give him a batch of f1's that is mostly BR with some AKR traits in there, ready to be bred out for more generations. Is there any reason why you would avoid doing it that way, if you wanted the same things he does (BR dominant offspring)? The other option I can think of would be breeding his BKR's to f2/f3, and then crossing back to BR to add the dominance that he's looking for.
Im glad we can have a serious discussion without acting stupid lol that is a rarity on an internet forum. :D
I agree with wat ur sayin.

No, I dont see anything wrong with it and Ive done backcrosses up to the BC3 (still have the seeds if I ever want to go further) It can be really useful for locking stuff in that would normally take a few generations with inbreeding (and small populations) My argument was that its used really lazily these days to get quick results and I think similar to superior results can be achieved with inbreeding and good selections while maintaining max genetic diversity. Whos to say 100% of the traits weve saved are easily visible or recordable? maybe there immunities or things of that nature that are just part of the plants biology. It also serves to teach OP some valuable skills and learn the right way to breed before he gets into fancy stuff like backcrossing that can basically be used as a tool for the breeder looking to cut corners.
Like you said, you can lock in some really bad stuff this way too, especially just crossing without testing progeny.
He doesnt need to backcross to establish dominance because if He selects in the F2 and F3 while the genes segregate and lean heavily to one side or another on the berry phenos he can achieve the same result while simultaneously establishing a legit IBL. Just my opinion though.

we are in the midst of a human caused mass extinction, I dont want to contribute in any way to that hahaha.

Heck yea, man. Me too. People fight over the dumbest things on forums. I'm here to learn and have fun, not to argue about how someone else is growing their bud. It's interesting comparing methods, whether you end up agreeing or not, because every so often you'll come across a bit of information that will be of use, be it something to do, or something to not do.

So I have several different strains going ATM, and by that I mean too many crammed in plants. I'm digging around and pulling plants to take a few pics and grab one with a nice top bud. Snap a few pics on my iphone. I added a flash on one of the pics and noticed something different about this one. How beautiful is that. WTF!!

All the same plant. I have two of these going. Both show color. hehe

Smells like a gob of fresh sap and a bunch of mint leaves.

Did not seed her. I didn't know she was going to show like that.

Found another. WW x PPF4. Damn. Didn't know this either. The purple is really hard to see with lights on. Pics are in a somewhat dark corner using a flash.

Dude, you got mad skills!!
I really don't have mad skills or super powers. Thanks though. Well I do but that's for another thread. I'm gonna let all you wannabees know how it's done.
Here goes

1. Put seed in a wet paper towel. Put paper towel in a small zip lock bag which is already labeled with perm marker. Blow air into it and zip bag shut. Set bag on DISH receiver.
2. After two days, put the sperm looking thing tail down into FFOF which is already in a red cup. Place under CFLs. Straight water only.
3. A week or two later, I fill up a 1 gallon grow bag with FFOF and transplant the red cup contents into this grow bag. Place under either the 400 or 600. Whichever is on at the time. 20/4
4. Just straight water for the next ~3 weeks.
5. After that, add to one gallon of water, GH nutes 1cc of grow, 4 cc of micro, and 5cc of bloom pretty much til the end. This 1 gallon mix will feed three 1 gallon plants every 3 days.
6. No flush. Harvest.

It's that simple. I made a 6x6x6 grow room out in my non-insulated shop. In the summer it gets hot hot. In the winter it gets cold.

1. I don't check ph. Never have. I have well water.
2. I have never used ANYTHING but the three GH nutes and FFOF.
3. My room has reached 111. Oh well. Surprising - not really a problem at all.
4. I don't use an AC or heater.
5. I transplant every auto I grow. Germ in a paper towel > red cup > 1 gal grow bag.
6. You know those bug killers you hook a hose up to and spray your lawn? I found one out in the shop that was half full. I unscrewed the top and replaced it with a simple hand sprayer and filled it up the rest of the way up with water. I spray around the door and on the bin exteriors. WORKS GREAT!!

Simple Simple Simple. This system works very well for me.

I am not bragging here AT ALL. Just saying why over-do-it. IT'S NOT NECESSARY.

My experiences here only apply to Autos.

Yes I found out the hard way "helping" your ladies too much will hurt em more than help em. Remember if it's good for a tomato it's good for weed. Keep it simple. It's just a weed...:weed:
