Is your cloner aeroponic?

Try this...run it constantly for the first 7 days more or less till root tips pop then put it on a cycle timer to only run every 5 minutes for one minute. A small pump constantly running in a gallon or so of water builds up a ton of heat.
Trust me I've been using aeroponic cloners for years, from homeade to prebuilts. I tried everything. When I moved I had issues. Now with UV sterilized water it seems ok.

I also had it working keeping it actively sterile, and also with bennies. But I felt like I shouldn't be fighting a battle in simplest hydrosetup.

a 6 watt stainless one on ebay, uses a phillips bulb. around 80 dollars.

Like I said, still experimenting with it....not telling people to go out and buy one

i thought uv light only kills the surface bacteria on the water.

i may be wrong:)
I believe it's effectiveness is based on a ratio of water depth to exposure time, based on what I've read.. In a deep res the water would need more exposure time than an inline with 1/4" of water flowing around it.

HTH Pool Shock in everything hydroponic. Works the best for me. It's easy and the cheapest sterile res option available. $4 for 5 years of squeaky clean reservoirs? No brainer.

Yeah, it's calcium hypochlorite, a form of chlorine. Really cheap, most hardware stores or pool stores carry it. It comes in a powder form in 1 lb bags and I use 0.2grams per 20 gallons of water. I just weight it out on a scale and bag up enough bags for a grow and I add a 0.2g bag every 3 or 4 days. It works 10x better than anything else I've tried. Also, plants like low levels of chlorine and they use calcium as well, the plants always look great and I've never had a problem using it.

For my aerocloner I mix 0.5g into a 1/2 gallon of water and then I add 30ml per 5gallons of cloner water, I can run the cloner at 80 degrees for 3 weeks straight without changing out the water and the cuts root in a week or less. The stuff is freaking amazing.

Thanks for starting this thread. I just started a new run in the URDWC. I've used bleach, and teas in the past in dwc. But, I've always used nothing in this system. I just use base nutrients with nothing added. Nothing.

Yeah, I add it back to the cloner every 3 or 4 days. It's easier to make a pool shock/ water solution for the cloners since they don't hold a lot of water. When I make my cloner mix, I just keep it in a jug with a cap on it and in a cooler. I think when it's sealed and in the dark, the chlorine mix will last quite a while. Every month or so I'll dump out what's not used and make a new batch.
