Bedroom Grower! (noob project)

Hi ive just started to grow 2 plants. I live in the UK and on hot, sunny days both plants get put outside in a green house and when the sun isn't out they stay in my bedroom under an 80w lamp light. I am fully aware that theese plants wont have a great yeild or probably wont even bud, but its a cool project and im enjoying watching them grow...if they flower then that is a bonus! I just thought i would post some progress pictures to gain some knowledge/opinions and tips from you guys as i go. (i think this is the right section).
No nutes or anything at this stage, just soil with perlite and rain water.

The slightly bigger plant closest to the camera is GreenHouse Cheese planted 2 days before the plant behind it which is La Frutta De Venus.

Any kind of feedback/knowledge/tips would be greatly appreciated.

hi fellow good to see someone else from the uk :)
don't give up before you start, it don't cost much to sort a small grow box out

any small cupboard will do, some cfl lights screwed to the top and the inside painted white
may have to leave the door open a little but it will cost much at all

could pull 5-10g's :)

Yes this will be my first grow so its a massive learning curve what kind of wattage cfl lights would you reccommend? without going too mad, ive thought about 250's?
I live with family at the moment, they know what is going on and are fine with it but i cant imagine them being too keen of the idea of rinsing their electric haha.
The more im seeing these grow the more im thinking i would love to set up a little grow room....it may happen! but lets just see how these get on!

They're not getting enough light, lookin stretched thin.

I wouldn't move em back and forth between the two lighting sources man, might cause em to hermie or something. If you can, just leave em in that greenhouse. If not then keep them inside under a lighting schedule.

Cheers and happy growing, smoke up bongsmilie

i don't think 250 cfls are gna make the electric go up buy much noticeable i got a 600w hps bulb in my grow room and the electric it uses extra a week is not really noticeable the hole grow room only uses about a 5er more a week than we were using on the electric before maybe you could get yourself a cheap 250w hps and you could get a nice yield good luck tho mate

There seedling so there going to strech a little, they look good fellow
I would use 2 x 20w daylight cfl's (long bulbs and fix them Horizontal), but keep the lights coulpe of inches above the plants, stack the plants on dvd cases

250w clf not for a small grow fellow and it will put the electria bill up (cost about 4 a week )
also get a Ona Block as it will help with the smell in flower

check this room out

you could get a T5 and veg and flower under that and that wouldn't hurt the electric bill hardly at all. i run a 400HPS and a T5 plus another T5 just for veg and i'd say my bill went up around $35-$40 each month. don't worry about the electric, it works out in the end depending on how much you pay for a bag in the UK and how often you buy it. for me, i'm saving money growing my own :bigjoint: plus it's much better quality and consistently the same quality

I am guessing you don't pay the electra bill and thats why you have to use low power lights ?

If it was my grow I would use t5's but a good set of t'5 could cost £60+ and these take up a lot more space but don't use much electria
and you would get a bigger yeild :)

worth thinking about

I use a 250watt cfl bought second hand with reflector for 30 quid but after digging around I found a brand new one with reflector for a little over 20 quid the bulb is self ballasted so plugs straight into the mains I'm on a pay as you go electric meter and pay no more than 5 pound a week on a 18/6 lighting schedule I put my plants under it when they was the same size as your and in two weeks they have tripled in size and if you say money isn't a issue then £5pw and a initial £20-£30 purchase cost should be a doddle for you hope this helps you out

I pay a small amount towards the bills as it is, just untill im more clued up on growing i dont want to spend loads on lights ect, i dont want to be the typical all the gear and no idea. so this is just a taster, i am loving it so far and im warming to the idea of a small grow room or tent and a light or two.

Ive just got in from work so i will look at them t5's they sound good! that plant looks good the stems look propper thick! mine is skiny at the moment...exiting stuff!! :p:p

These are my girls...
Try to avoid misting with the lights on, water magnifies I think 30% so think of those droplets as little magnifying glasses on your leaves they will leave burn marks on them. Do it at lights off if you must mist.

To the OP glad to see you're gaining knowledge before investing everything you've got. Haha I've seen it too many times, spent thousands on top gear only to find out they have no idea how to grow.. It's sad when they go into denial and spend even more on nutrients and snake oils to fix their plants when the real issue is the grower themselves.

Seedlings look great so far, a slight breeze will also help thicken those stems and moving the light closer will help with the common seedling stretch. Don't love them to death, Best of luck bud

This is my small veg room, start them off in here and flower them under a 600w hps

if the veg room was 2ft high I could flower under the t5's

Not alot is really going on at the moment...thinking of maybe moving to a bigger pot soon and using more soil around the stem a little bit to help support it

Just checking in, will probably not post for a while after this unless there is any major changes..The stems seem really long at the moment...still loving it!

Although after putting the plants in the greenhouse for an hour while the sun was out this morning it made the leaves point upwards almost vertical lol...but i can now see another set of leaves coming through as said above a very slow process :(!
