Bcseedking sucks*

yeah it sounds like you guys have had a pretty bad experience with BCSK. and i might even end up in your spot(growing my seeds), but if you posted the same thing about nirvana or any other seed bank you would get negative isolated incidents with them too. In my humble opinion I think its just probability, if a company sells a million seeds than there are going to be plenty of threads about how much they suck and how much they rock. But there are def' horrible seed companys out there that just suck, but personally i dont think BCSK is one of them based on my experience with them thus far. there delivery and generosity(gave me free 15 mango) was unmatched, and i delt with 3 other companys.

well I guess there are other options like buying equally as good seeds from nirvana and paying a decent price like BCSK only you will get your seeds in 14 or more business days and no bonus seeds with BC seedking expect 3 to 4 business days for an additional 15 bucks and no less than 10 extra seeds.......I got 17 free seeds. I dont know Good luck all

A gentleman earlier in these posts makes a very valid point. The ratio of fems to males can be encouraged by optimizing the plants conditions.

If it is too hot for them, thats a stress that could encorage male plants, too cold, not enough circulation, bad soil, etc etc etc all these things can stress a plant which helps the genetics to make that choice.

Good luck

I know that I've had real bad luck because we don't use the thermostat(not my choice!) and cold nights kill sprouting seeds deader than shit!I tried 4 times with bcsc, and guess what! they have great service...it wasn't their fault I had the failures...I tried different methods and parameters, and found the problem. trial and error can get pretty expensive; but you learn a lot if you don't give up and blame the middle man. while retaling bad seeds would reflect poorly on a retailer, it's up to the growers to produce good seed, still if you're knowingly selling bad seeds, that would be another matter. sprouting seeds is a crapshoot under the best circumstances. I use a formula for guessing an average of females:1/3 males, 1/3 females, 1/3 hermies and murphy. I think bcsc is in it for the long haul; they aren't some fly-by-night flim-flam. they want to see their business grow and thrive. you don't shit in your own bed! believe me; hundreds of dollars wasted, and months lost, not to mention lost harvest weight...bites the big one!..BUT...2 (free) kahunas and 2 white widow, out of ...lets see...roughly 125 seeds...$250 later; and guess what? one female plant will pay for that ad infinitum!(clone city!)...like I said; it's a crapshoot...but even with major losses, one true female will eventually make up for the agony(ok...maybe not completely!).

cross 'em...I used my bcsc purple leaf stemmed widow male to make santa cruz shark, white dom, white master, crystal haze(nl.hz), and purple(haze)widow...I'm growing them now...the female clone of the bcsk widow is now pregnant with the vortex, as is the shark. sure the widow is a knockoff(knockout!)...it tastes like cherry pez...the best tasting smoke I've ever had!..and it will light-you-up! you mix that with haze, and you'd at least be in the same family as 'cindy'....I seriously doubt you'll come up with any non-keepers out of that cross...hell- I'd double cross it! both ways.

Sorry to hear about your luck. I don't see where you can say their geneteics suck because you go 15 males, it isn't like they sort out the males and females and decide what to send. If they grew into crappy plants that's one thing but getting a poor ratio is just the luck of the draw usually.

the only problem i have with bcsk is that they're seriously lagging in the cutting edge dept....but if you want base seeds or a quick(large) crop without growing a clone mother, they can't be beat...i just wish they had some lemon larry o.g., or diesel/chemdawg crosses, or some landrace sativas to sell.

To get more females you have to give them more N and less K. High humidity also good to get females. colder temps is accautly better for females.
High temps excess K and dry medium premotes males. Also 16/8 premotes females... 18/6... males!!
I think if you have your seedling you should mix up.. 1/4 wormcasting/1/4 bat guono and half soilless would be good for a 3 gallon. Add a little bit of lime to controll ph and feed plain water untill flowering.
Ready avaible nitrogen will make more females. Its in the grow bible. oh yea i just orderd 25 mango and 15 god bud from bcseedking

I know this is old but....

1 - The males to females ration on regular seeds aren't set instone as to what seed is what gender.
2 - The way you grow it will play part in to what is a male and what's a female.
3 - Some DNAs in the plants that are used to make the seeds with might have a higher male ration in the DNA while other strain's DNA will more likely produce females. There are strains that have it in their DNA that are more resistant to hermi. Some strains you have to stress them to get some males.
4 - Some times when seeds are getting made the environment that they are in changed and could have caused it.
5 - BCSK is a seed bank not a mj seed site that are breeders that make the strains to sell.

As to the person that said about BCSK not having a big selection of strains but how many seed companies have strains at that price that aren't listed as F1 strains? Also The genetics of BCSK strainsare better and would make good breeding strains.
