ballast is extremley hot

bought a seperate ballast for my 400watt, i didn't even know what a balast was until last month.

anyway, it is extremeley hot to touch, you cant keep your hand on certain parts of it for more than a second.

is this normal, or is it faulty.

no ballast are really hot the electronic ones are cooler tho

place a small fan blowing on it. you won't believe the difference.

You're losing alot of light efficiency by letting it run that hot. Like silky said place a small fan on it....it will be like it's not even running it will be so cool.

ballasts run hot from electrical resistance. a small computer fan on it makes it undetectable like they all say....

nobody even asked if the ballast was new or not.....


if its new take it back.....it should be hot but not that hot...ever

i have 1k watters i can leave my hand on for 3-5seconds....on any part.....if its old replace it...they are cheap compared to the prospect of burning your grow down or even your entire house....does anybody who responded to this even have a ballast...lmao
