Baking soda, lime juice?

Could someone tell me the purpose of baking soda and lemon juice for bud washing? What do these too items accomplish?

I wouldn't wash buds with anything basic, like baking soda, since THCA is made water soluble in alkaline water. Probably couldn't touch most of the resin which is inside the trich heads but it might touch some where the trich heads break open, as they tend to do.

This is also why I suggest not using tap water when making bubble hash, though most tutorials actually just say use tap water. Tap water is often quite alkaline. A weak citric acid solution should be safe, and is an excellent fungicide.

I don't know how much THCA would actually be washed out by using a baking soda solution or alkaline tap water, could be negligible, but why even chance it? Lime juice, mentioned in the thread title, would probably work, diluted. I would just use pure citric acid solution though.

I took a small sample of bud of this one plant and washed it using a diluted H202 solution, like in the Jorge Cervantes does in this video:

I just did it as an experiment. her's a pic of one about to go in the cure jar. I looked at the plant under a loupe and see no busted trichomes or mold.
