For those of you not already familiar with badkat's sticky in the "cooking with cannabis" section of RIU, I highly suggest you have a look at his / her thread, you won't be disappointed.
So of all badkat's recipes, the canna hash oil caps is what caught my attention. I did the decarbing as outlined in the thread with the hash prior to adding the oil and also added soy lecithin to increase the bioavailability of the cannabinoids (i.e. get ya higher). I did also use coconut oil as badkat suggested which has a much higher fat content than butter alone. I used 5 G of quality hash and 5 g of junk hash (should have excluded it) for a total of 10g of hash in the mix. I did not actually cap end up capping the oil this time as this run was for experimental purposes only to determine how potent the oil actually get when the cooking is done.
Having said that, I smeared about half of the oil on a piece of wheat bread and scarfed it down. The high was thoroughly intense almost reminiscent of a narcotic type of high as badkat suggested. Definitely not a recommended dose to repeat next time as it was too much and I feel a better high could be achieved with a smaller dose.
All in all, badkat's decarbing process and the addition of soy lecithin in the recipe really seems to be very effective quite significantly improving the final product. The only thing I would do differently next time is to invest in a digital counter top oven where you can set the temp exactly at 240 etc.... rather than dicking around with the oven that fluctuates constantly. I've got a lot more trial and error to go through here but I'd also in the future like to try using buds instead of hash for the oil recipe and see how that turns out. Shall be fun
