Bad year for Malaysia aviation.

Agree to restore the missile shield to Poland. That would be one thing.

He has got to stop acting like a spiteful little kid by putting sanctions on individual Russians. With the resources of the state behind these people they could give a shit. And if they dont have the resources of the state behind them do you think Putin gives a shit? The guy just took a whole country. He could give cities away as favors... Do you see the scale of ridiculousness yet?
As i said above he has increased air patrols in and around Poland and stationed an aegis vessels in the black sea since 2010. the problem with any missile defence system is if your enemies have the capability to hit you with a missile they have also invested a significant portion of R&D into countermeasures for that missile - so is not 100% guaranteed. Poland is also adopting its own missile defence system in the interim with obvious NATO/US input which one would assume will be incorporated into NATOs larger European missile defence system.

I get where you're coming from as Putins Russia doesn't seem to give a shit about international law, domestic law nor humanitarian protections afforded by international laws/treaties. But in regards to the downing of this plane the only military action that should be tabled at this stage is a multinational force to secure the crash site, recover the bodies and start a 1st world style investigation you would expect in the US/UK/CAN/AU. Without access to the site, wreckage, black box on so forth definitive answers wont be forthcoming. I'm skeptical of any Ukrainian government sourced releases of info - until independent verification.

have you been to malaysia, it's has a beautiful!, awesome rain forest!!! it's a huge tourist magnet. my sister told me about all this mess. she didn't know if there were any americans. i knew there would be.
sure, guatemala has lovely rainforests too, but i wouldnt ride on a guatemalan airline.

just like cruise ships registered in liberia or other third world nations, regulations and maintenance are largely non-existent

Putin is going to push as hard as he can with what he can get away with under the Obama administration. After that it is a crap shoot. Properly wielded, America is a deadly weapon. Fuck, put Donald Trump in charge and we would own Russia in 4 years :P

Unfortunately, I dont see any Reganesque leader in the wings. They all seem to be big government big spenders to me... Both parties are the same.

America can be a deadly weapon when wielded properly - the first two years in Afghanistan proved this but politicians and conventional military leadership always screw the pooch. The other major setback is the US media and American people as a whole, who cannot bear the sight of coffins being unloaded from planes, It's the political fallout from those reactions that cripples an administrations ability to respond militarily to this type of aggression.
