It's the initial cost that scares me lol but I suppose you get what you pay for :P

From what I've seen on here though there capable of producing some good results.
Part of the beauty of these is you can start with 1 or 2 and add on later. I probably should have done it that way but I knew I'd end up with 6 soon enough anyway and I got a small discount for the quantity so..

$140 for the equivalent of 150w HPS that uses 1/3 the power and adds no heat seems like pure win to me. I wish I found these before I started buying stuff. lol

Seems like you could put 2 above the plant and the other 4 around the plant. Something like north south east west. Get those lower buds plumped up.

It makes sense, but I really don't know what I'm talking about regarding these cobs. (:
Something more to ponder. Thanks a lot. lol. I'm just a little scared of adding so much light so fast and these girls are pretty small as it is. That's a LOT of light in that small closet. With the HPS that's like 1k -1200w in 2.5'x5' of space.

Would light from different directions make it less intense on the plants?

This could be complete Bro science but I do recall something about the increase in c02 and the plant needing excessive light to be able to use the extra c02, not sure of what benefit any of this is but sounds good lol

I wouldn't be scared of putting them up though, have you got the option to dim them? :)

Not sure I'm looking to add c02 to my closet grow. lol

Unfortunately not dimmable.

things are different when there's more light being provided than your cannabis plant can naturally use. In high-light situations, supplying more CO2 can allow your plants use more of that light, which results in increased photosynthesis. By getting your plants to produce more energy from the same amount of light, they'll reward you with faster growth and bigger yields!

As an added bonus, supplementing with CO2 in this way makes your plants more resistant to heat and light stress!

I was thinking when it got to 12"s or so and just the 6 without the hps.

Ah I was confused before. This is pretty much why I went with 6 like this. Many options to experiment with. I was thinking about 4 from above due to the light pattern then I have 2 for side lighting. I rotate my girls around the closet every other day so they'd get all kinds of penetration.

So, I added 2 of the COBs to the closet. One at each end. Been in there for about 5 hours and the temp went up 2 degrees. Girls seem happy so far.

The heat sinks get pretty warm but nothing compared to an HID. lol

Panama Lime seed popped yesterday morning. Today she got planted into a 50/50 mix of the leftover kind soil and seedling soil with a good portion of the seedling stuff to start in. I put ~3" of mixed size perlite in the bottom of a 4gal square bucket w/5 1/4" drain holes at the bottom of each side.

Hoping the Quarter Pounder freebie sprouts soon. She'll go in the same 4gal setup.

Mixed soil should go a LOT smoother than my layered screw-up. :bigjoint:

Day 50

#1 Bubblicous She was the best from the start, now the runt of the litter. She's ALL bud, Main cola is further along than the rest of her.

#2 Was doing bad but woke up and took off. She may be the biggest yield of the Bubbalicous when they're all finished. She has the potential and is REALLY loving the cobs. Looking back at my notes, she started having issues when I switched from MH to HPS. Explains the leaf "burn" and sudden slow growth. Also explains why she's started doing better when I lowered her from the HPS and why she's been reaching for the COB. Look at that stretch! lol

#3 AK finally filling in a bit.

#4 Bubblicous just getting fatter by the day.

Still just ph'd water for 1,2, and 4 bottom fed, light cal/mag from above to keep all that coco moist. < That's the only regiment that stopped them from dropping leaves but they still have issues. AK's been getting Go Box nutes pretty much since she started to flower. She went pale yellow right after stretch.

Been very patient these 7 weeks. It's wearing off fast. :bigjoint:

Have a Panama Lime seedling a few days old loving the COBs atm and just dropped a germinated (popped overnight in paper towel) Cheese seed into the same setup. The Quarter Pounder may be a lost cause. Been in the Rapid Rooter for 6 days. Meh, freebie. lol

So, I've failed at updates as of late so here we go...

Bubblicious #1 was half cut 10 days ago, the rest last night. #4 Bubblicious was also chopped last night. First part is already in a jar, fresh stuff in paper bags.

#3 AK got the axe today.

Judging from the Bubblicious in the jar, it looks like 3.5-4oz for these 2 plants. I think #2 is going to reach that number herself. AK might hit 3 if I'm lucky but I;m guessing 2. She's ALL flower. Took 15 minutes from the first cut until she was hanging. Mostly real stringy flower. She'll likely become something other than smoke. She's VERY sticky and even the stringy stems are covered in trics.

Bubblicious #2 still has 2+ weeks to go. Not sure I have the patience to leave the HPS in there that long.

Under COBs,

Panama Lime @ 2weeks; isn't happy with her soil (too hot/wet) but growing fast anyway. I have the light @ ~30" and she's got about 1.5" space between nodes and her side branches are as tall as the main stem with no training. Not feeling confident with her. I might try and flush the soil tomorrow if I get the courage. Might possibly run a ton more holes around that bucket so it dries out faster too.

Cheese; was started a week later, in the same medium and very happy with it. She's kind of dark but no signs of burn yet and looks 100x better than PL.

I feel growth under these COB's is a LOT faster than the HID. I was afraid I would be under-impressed with these but so far with just 110w running I'm very happy.
