Auto Flower Grow (Trans Siberian & Afghan Kush Ryder)

If you do make sure you have a control group. I see too many of these people saying it helps, but they never do a control. It's all anecdotal.

Ya I agree, Cloudz. Although I'm open to experimenting with plants to see for myself. I see that no one has even posted a thing about the Trans Siberian let alone done a journal or even posted pics. There's a first time for everything and it looks like I may be the first to give light to this strain on RIU!

Yea I've never heard of that strain or the breeder. Either they're unknown or just not good. I feel the same way though, I started growing Blue Mammoth because no one has had a chance to complete a harvest yet(came out on 4/20).

Today marks one day shy of making the ladies two weeks old and so far all seems to be well although I feel they should be significantly bigger. Tomorrow I start in with the fox farm nutes so I figure might as well snap some pics before nutrients to see what difference it brings. Also, one of my leaves is missing part of it you can see for yourself (PIC 10)...is this because AUTO FLOWERS are still not 100% stable with genetics? Anyways, feel free to comment!...

Sometimes it just happens. Stable genetics has nothing to do with it really. Impossible to account for every single factor when breeding and it could just be a deformity to your plant alone. Remember to go 1/2 strength on autos.

So today marks 3 weeks old, turning one month come july 14th. So far plants look somewhat healthy and have had no problems with PH, heat, N, or anything, until about a week ago..

I came home to all of the plants nearly infested with fungus gnats. I had seen a few recently but thought nothing of it...big mistake. The fungus gnats soon started laying eggs and multiplying by the second it seemed so I grabbed what I could quickly and set up sticky traps under and around the plants while using some Neem Oil Extract until my shipment of "nematodes" arrived. Well, today the nematodes made it to my doorstep and I immediately mixed them in within the soil and watered with my fox farm nutrients as scheduled. Now I get to play the waiting game to see if the nematodes can live up to their hype as I am a first time user. Other than that all seems well other than the height. I feel as though they are somewhat small but I may just be so used to growing larger plants rather than autos. As of this moment, the plants height stand at this:

AFGHAN KUSH RYDER: 5 INCHES
AFGHAN KUSH RYDER: 10 INCHES
TRANS SIBERIAN: 12 INCHES
TRANS SIBERIAN: 7 INCHES
TRANS SIBERIAN: 10 INCHES
TRANS SIBERIAN: 14 INCHES




I plan to LST soon as I assume they all are just about tall enough to do so, but I do have a a couple questions with this update..


A) When should I switch from MH to HPS since they are now starting to put out pistols and they will be a month old next week?

B) Is it okay to start to LST on at least some of the plants? Guessing you wait until at least 3 nodes?

C) Do you use all 3 of the fox farm trio (grow big, big bloom, tiger blossom) at time of flower or should I stick with my plan and continue grow big and big bloom until a week into flowering then switch to only tiger blossom?

So this journal hasn't had too many views or posts so basically i'm doing this for my own sake now but will continue to update. Seems to me that the plants are all doing well as I had a bad fungus gnat infestation taken care of by "nematodes" which are by far the best fucking method I have come across to date, they're awesome! Anyways, it's been over a month now (1m8d) and all have begun flowering rapidly as well as general growth showing more and more shoots on those branches. It's about the second or third week of flowering as I have begun using tiger blossom along with big bloom and grow big. I plan to stop use of the grow big for a few weeks after a flush within the next few days to rid of any build up I may have and continue with just the bloom nutes for the next few weeks. One plant (Afghan Kush Ryder/PICTURE 9) seems to be a little over heated or was too dry as the leaves were curling upward for the past few days or so. Soil could have been watered more so maybe it was that or the fan being directly on them? So, I turned the fan near and not "on" them as it tends to dry them out somewhat. I will see if watering to a point where the soil is never too dry along with a flush and a moved fan will do the trick. Plants are being fed @ about 8-10 ml of each fox farm nutrient and seems to be working well at that dosage. CHECK THE PICTURES BELOW AND LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK!!

In a lot of pics it looks like mild to severe heat stress, not just the AKR. Curling tips are a easy well to tell. Also pics with the HPS turned off would be better. Also what are you're temps at? Watering will help, but typically if the soil is dry the plants will wilt(dry up and droop) before they curl up like that.

ya I figured. The heat stess seems to be worse on one of the smaller plants I have going and with the light raised even more, I am wondering what may be causing this since my tallest of the bunch has no signs of heat stress as of yet and it is merely 5 inches from the light. So right now I am trying to figure out how to turn these around as the location of the fan has been changed and the light raised about high as it can possibly go. They all set on a table so I COULD fold the legs and just use it as a base then I could have a bigger gap between the light and plants....any suggestions anyone?

You could get an air cooled tube or w/e it's called for HPS. Smaller plants will have more trouble with heat because they have less space(they're smaller) to hold water/moisture. Any idea what your temps are at? If you have some type of thermometer you could see what the ambient temp is, the temp at the highest canopy level is and what the temp where your smaller plants is at. You also might want to turn it down to 250w.

Just checked the first page for what type of fan you have. A fan in the window isn't going to work. Unless it's a large window fan and you have another fan bringing in cool air in a sealed environment to create negative pressure it's not going to help any.

Hey bro, good looking thread and grow. I've just started 3 Trans Siberian myself, under T5HO's...what kind of temps are you getting? IM subbed and looking forward to seeing how they turn out, I'll be about a month behind!!

Might need to get a portable ac unit, or maybe a window ac...managing heat sucks, I'm dealing with it myself, driving me crazy!!!

Whats up everyone? long time no talk. Sorry but yes I did harvest and did stop updating and its practically all gone but I did manage to harvest 8.2 ounces dry weight between 6 autos (4 trans siberian, 2 afghan kush ryder). The trans siberian was great with an energetic uplifting high followed with a stone and munchies that would make you eat a baby. The smell was great but that taste was just OK. Very earthy taste with a pine/lemon-ish smell. During peak heights growing indoors they had reached a max of about 4 feet which is pretty nice for autos if you ask me. Also, the trans siberian was a nice yielder with bud shoots practically ever inch of the plant. Only problem being that the Trans was really fluffy or thinned rather than dense nugs that you tend to look for. BUT, it did get 6 ounces dry (1.5 oz per plant @ 4 plants). As for the afghan, my favorite of the two, it had very very dense nugs with an amazing aroma and ridiculously resinous buds. Although akr is very short (1-2 feet) it had about 1.1 ounces on each of the two for the final dry weight which isnt too bad for a plant of its stature. In all with my first experience with autos I am liking it maybe doing a sea of green next spring when they can be outdoors. Great for stealth growers or people who may not have their own medical card or certification. I am certified and am a care give for 3 people at the moment, all whom loved the two strains I just grew. Now, the sad part is that I only have a short clip of the afghan kush ryder which isn't too great and does not show the buds true beauty plus I do not have any other pictures other than what I had posted. My mother passed one week before harvest so my mind was elsewhere. Anyways, heres the clip and, YES, these are great strains and will be growing the two again, fore, I did get about 30 seeds (15 each strain). STAY TOKIN!!

Awesome report Maine!! I just harvested a Trans and although I may have plucked her a little early, she does seem a little airy...but she is not even fully dried and cured, so we shall see....

Ya, DelSol, it's a bit airy but a nice smoke, it's a little different than anything i've had guess you'll see once cured!

LCJ, that is the same "company" I purchased my setup off of...right off ebay baby. I've done 5 going on 6 as of right now for total grows with them. I enjoy them as they are efficient and very affordable. Grow success....you bet!
