Attempting to grow in rain gutters

Okay, so perhaps little "over medicated" but sitting in my grow room after my last 100 day basement grow of 4 dwc plants that averaged 2.75 ounces, and also deciding to start fresh from seed after fighting with spider mites. I come to the realization that I have grown short little plants in an under counter grow chamber that would average 3/4 to an ounce under regular fluorescent bulbs. So now I'm burning 1400 mh in veg and 2000 hps in flower. With the increase in quality and lumens as well as about 5 more years of grow experience in my basement I figure I ought to be able to at least average the same with the same size plants in probably 90 days from clones.

Anyrate, I like hydro, so started shopping pvc type products thinking first some of those pvc fence posts and 4-5 inch drain baskets. What steered me away from this was cost of about $25 each and another $8 for endcaps. Ended up settling on raingutters for $5.50 each and endcaps for about $4.50. Total cost for the system ended up about $100 - $45 in pvc, $27 for a fountain pump, and probably $10 in pipes that I just drilled about a 1/4" in the top 1/2" cpvc to discharge into the hydro troughs. My floor was rough so I suspended it all from the ceiling with winch straps which turned out to aid in adjusting the rate at which the nutrient solution drains through the system.

This is what I came up with -

I bought some 2" fish net or poultry net and installed it over carpenters string as I am concerned the shallow system will allow for easy tipping of the plant. I figure the plants will grow up through the holes and aid in stabilizing before its a problem. The plants are seeds as mentioned and actually have 3 different germ dates varying up to 10 days. I just switched to the 2000 hps and 12 hr flower last night.

All things considered I think this is gonna work well.

as long as they branch out and go through the trellis, it should be a slam dunk. have you considered an ebb and flow table? would take up a 4x4 space but less parts than the current setup...an alternative to a $100 dollar table is to just buy a kiddie pool for start...cheap, rigid plastic....my 2 pennies. why did you scrap the dwc system?

Hey simply, thanks for your reply to my vho thread. I thought to examine your posts &came2this old1. Precisely...your gutters are my next grow. I have six 6"gutters, full 10'length. I'm wondering first did branches intertwine to keep from gutter tipping? I thought of using Rockwool cubes into a bed of coco coir over filling them gutters
What'd u use and how'd it turn out? I'm planning mix of kosker kush, any C-99, green crack, OG any, & fresian dew if monsters can be nutritionally supported in these smallish gutters. What's your experiences found?
