arduino/raspberry pi automated aeroponic system

i'm thinking of building an aero system controlled by an assortment of arduino and raspberry pi. it will be completely automated- light timer, pumps, res fill/drain, water chiller/heater, fans, dehumidifier/humidifier, a/c and heat. sensors for res temp/ph/ec/ppm, pump flow, room temp/rh. and cameras for the room and in the buckets to see the roots. also having a dosing system for nutes and corrective measures for ph. this is all accessible/controllable online.

has this been done before to this degree on the enthusiast/diy level? i'm sure there are systems for large scale growers spending tens/hundreds of thousands of dollars. any sensors or actions i left out that you would include?

I have seen a few advanced Arduiono hydroponics projects on Youtube but none of them with bucket cams. I would add a smoke detector and perhaps a IR-sensor for security.

smoke sensor maybe, but i'm not worried about security. this is a grow in a completely enclosed underground by 10 feet grow room on my property. and i already have more than adequate security, both in physical barriers, electronic, location in the middle of nowhere, k9, and an arsenal. if they can get through that they deserve the weed lol.

Sounds like the perfect place for a grow op. :) Looking forward to read more about your system, sounds very interesting.

Have you done any more with this?

I have pH working, and automatic nutrient feeding based on how much the plants consume.
I'm not going the cheapest route, a system like this wants and needs high quality sensors, and you also want it for a peace of mind and success time after time.

Basically I think 1000$ is the cheapest it can get, but.. I consider that cheap.. And mine will end up probably double that, but compared to what you can buy for the same money elsewhere.. ;)

If you know c,c++ or web/app development, I suggest we talk

i'm good with the building and concept aspect. i have the whole schematic laid out. my only caveat at the moment is i don't know programming language. however, i'm sure i can find someone to do that with a quick craigslist search.

I know this is an old post , but did you ever build this system? My main thing is I am in search of flow sensors in case my pumps every fail or timers fail I will know my pumps are not working and I would like to be alerted. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated! Hope all is well
