Just throwing up a flag to see if there are any other RUI members into marketing or advertising. my infatuation borders on the obsessive, i rate comercials on their ability to capture their target markets, i read business plans for fun, and of course always enjoy talking strategy. When i was in college i worked with a professor to help start up small business with marketing plans and counseling.

I am definitely into it but not in a serious or professional way. I'm kinda the lowly worker who happens to know exactly what is going on with the business. I spend a good many hours a week talking with a colleague who is interested in creating a business so we talk a lot about business plans, models, client bases and all that lot. For me a huge amount of marketing is down to presentation, the amount of times i've seen a company with a great service or product but cock it up ever so slightly in one way or another be it the advertising method or ontent, or the actual packaging of a product. One of my current jobs is in a fairly new company who're massively expanding, but needing to keep all the stock changing to kepe customers happy, but it's all being created by us so we ave to have huge sitdown to discuss the ingredients, seasonality, names, how to sell it, who we can sell it to, the general ins and outs on a nice small scale.

I don't like television advertising and that lot, as well it's all a load of crap with bloody complaints and all that lot. I like Jeremy Clarksons Volkswagon adverts, fuck being appropriate haha. I tend to think that whether it gives off the correct image or not, i think that there are so many adverts that people probably prefere the slightly obscure tsyle, such as a massively revving engine, instead of the same old dull car commerical.

LOL i loved that episode of top gear... I agree 100% i have seen business that had amazing products like Powerlet ( a company i helped take from 150k a year to 500k) geat idea but the owners where engineers, to talk to them about their product was like the worst IT presentation you have ever been through. I gave them the advice "people don't care how it works, they just care that it works" we did a comprehensive survey (5 Harley dealerships, 3 Honda, and 6 independent) shops on Saturdays and Sundays in the summer, 3 weeks, 14 dealerships, and 1500 surveys later we had a base line (even got one dealer to become an authorized reseller). from there we were able to help design POS displays, narrow down new products, and website functionality. great project to have been a part of

HAhaha, slightly more involved than my daily musings on what will and won't work for the company. The most recent discussion was the size of cardboard box to use  big or small i see it all as important though.

I have started my career as a online marketer. Right now I am doing online marketing for many companies. On marketing and advertising I would like to say that the things are there because of advertising. If you are watching a football match or cricket match or movie, they get income through the advertisement.

I help startups, too. I don't take them to market I find buyers, licensees, and high-level investors. I am having more fun now than when I run my own business and had to deal with employees.

I'm an entrepreneur at heart and am always looking for the next business opportunity to pounce on. Work as a regional sales rep for a supplement company dealing with, ironically, herbal medicine. : ) I just grow for personal enjoyment and am a newb in that regard. I don't have time to really invest into growing, i just keep it simple and out of mind until show time!
