Ive been thinking about adding some of these to the Flower room and about using these for my VEG room? anyone have an idea on how well these work compared to HID's?

no personal experience with this exact light, but i run leds in veg.

was debating on picking up the combination t5 ho/led instead of the full led considering its $80 per led tube. and the systems ive seen dont come with them.

don't - the wattage per diode is way to low - do the math. Most of the reputable led lights out for 2011 use at least 3w chipsets meaning each individual diode is driven to about 2.1w of output power. Those will not give any kind of decent penetration. There is also no mention of a warranty on them which would scare me away in a hurry.

that price is just the fixture. the tubes are $60-80 each. they use 22 watts versus 54 watts on a t5. also keep in mind they say they are t8 SIZE, they do not say they are t8's. you cannot use anything but the agroled bulbs in this fixture. they do sell a combo t5/led fixture.

DON"T DO IT THERE JUNK!!! I promise you when my lights come on tonight I'll show you what I mean, I inherited these lights from a grower friend who hasn't had them for a year and they flicker half of the led's don't even light up and the other half are either way too bright or not lit at all. I wish my friend would have done more research instead of spending 1,200$ on 2 of these pieces. Agroled T5 combo led hood junk. I mean it will grow plants but not worth the money way better options out there.

They now have T8 led bulbs that are a direct replacement. No removing ballast. I think they are around $40 each on bulk orders. Can't remember the company at the moment.
