Anyone elce got colitis?

Hey riu, I was just wondering if anyone elce on here has ulcerative colitis. I've been diagnosed for a little over a year now specificaly with pancolitis meaning its my entire colon but not intestine like with chrones. I think I've come across a discovery that could really help some people in a simular situation and though this would be the most beneficial first contribution as a long time lurker. So here we go, I noticed my aprizo (mezalamine meds) were the extended release and weren't disolving in my stool completly. Google told me my bodys Ph had to be at 6 to disolve the acidic pills. I bolted for my trusty blue lab and emediatly pee'd in that cup faster then 15yr old me at the probation center . To my amazement it was 5.4! The local health food store had ph up pills and litmus paper for my saliva. I again relied on google to find a list of "alkaline forming foods" and was shocked to find out lemons and limes metabolize into alkaline when digested and hemp seems to be the alkaline king :) ..my medicine disolves now and I can tell exactly when because I ph my urin every go. Its a full time battle to keep my ph up but I feel great when I do. That reminds me I gota go get that 400w juicer crankn..ph is just as important for humans who woulda thunk it. Ill the color coded food list I've been living by if anyone's interested. My meds worked and flare is gone, 1 asprin sent me into a wicked one. Acidosis is a reall disorder I'd love to see what other ph concious people have to say, criticisim or not

I have crohn's. I've refused medication for it for 4+ years now, 3 pills to counteract the side effects of the 1 they say i needed( for the rest of my life)..no thanks. I control it mostly through diet, switching to "real" foods( butter, cream, salt, sugar) instead of substitutes, going organic and eliminating pesticides, preservatives, artificial flavorings/etc as much as possible made the biggest difference in my health. I truly believe our food supply is the biggest health issue in this country..but that's another topic. I used to drink a cup of water with fresh lemon first thing in the morning and one at night after reading about the benefits. It did make a world of difference, i stopped doing it..don't know why...

Thanks for the response 78 (couldnt have said it better myself), chrons sufferers should feel free to post on here too along with diverticulitis as well. As for the food supply being a problem is deffinitly still this topic in my opinion. Even what strains help for flares would be cool, the stuff you have to drink for colonoscophys is too much for me. So I like taking a big dab and beer bongin the stuff in that order as many times as needed and its not so bad, wish this was an option for my mom with diverticulitis. I'm gonna have to edit the op as my flare came back, like always. I'm in colorado and am looking into a surgeon to cut me a pouch because yesterday I though I was anemic again from the 2 month flare and was in the hospital. They shot me up with steriods and gave me a scrip of prendisone which was more then my gastro did. He kept me on the same script of apriso and yelled at me to take my pills ( I hadn't for 4 months and was fine, even gaining weigh) . Plant pictures comin on another thread too as soon as my girlfriend figures out how to do that on my galaxy as thats all I have.
