Anybody Know Anything About Guitars Around Here?

Can anyone tell me the difference between the Squier Vintage Modified '72 Telecaster "Thinline" semi-hollow and the Squier Vintage Modified Telecaster Deluxe.
Some differences are obvious, one's semi-hollow, but how else do they compare? I see great reviews for both, especially the '72 Thinline but the guy at my local music store was pushing the Deluxe. Which one is a better buy? Amazon has them both for the same amount of coin. Thanks

i suggest you try both out and go with which one you like, a lot of things go into different models of guitars to take in to account also, pickups can affect sound equipment different so try each guitar on which amp and effects set up you plan on using is another great tip I can give you or else you may have to change stuff around to get the sound you need after you pick a guitar. Make sure the hardware (tuning knobs, bridge, tremlo, ect) are in good condition is another thing to take into account, another big thing is make sure the frets are not so worn down they have to be changed, (check the first few frets on the high "E" string) it can cost over $100 easy to replace those, just thinking of things to consider, I've bought many guitars, my Guitar tech has taught me more than anything. Hes cussed me out a few times... Lol...another thing is how well do you know the guy at the music store, alot of those guys dont know alot, I personally would call a place that works on guitars professionally to ask them questions about those guitars if the music store guy doesnt work on guitars or has not played guitar for a long time. Again just thinking of stuff to help.

Not yet. Still just shopping around. I'm in the $300 dollar range and I was looking at possibly something used but don't know enough about older guitars to be any kind of "informed consumer". So, I am looking at a few new ones. The first is a Squier vintage modified telecaster deluxe, I like the two humbuckers and it really looks the best of the ones I'm looking at, imo. I'm also looking at an Ibanez 421-it is also a HH set-up. I also like that its a hard tail, don't know enough about tuning a "whammy bar" to mess with one, and I think I like the thinner feel of the "Wizard 3" neck. Another one I see is a Yamaha 120h, also a hard tail and a HH set-up as well. I like the Squier but I need to get the feel of these guitars as I am unsure if I would prefer the thinner, flatter neck of the Ibanez, or the more traditional feel of the Squier or Yamaha. The Squier also doesn't offer a rosewood finger board, the other two do, which I do prefer over maple. Still undecided.
