Anyone here into day trading? Play any strategies? I personally trade gaps on etf's, FAS and FAZ, in particular. Any else into it?

I hate when my stocks get gapped down right before I want to sell, pisses me off to open to a totally different market everyday. The Plunge Protection team sucks, they have no methodology between one week and the next. I have done some trading with TZA and SLV etf's.

I used to day trade, back in high school and beginning of college. I couldnt juggle getting a degree and doing the necessary research though so I dropped the trading. Quite the rush when you sell and make 2, 3 times what you bought it for a few hours earlier. Anywho, I'm boring now. Got it all tied up in mutual funds and oil and whatnot.

Good luck fella's

Here's a pic of the last two days of FAS. When the market opened, yesterday, FAS opened over a dollar below where it closed on the previous day. Today, it opened almost a dollar higher than where it closed yesterday. History tells us that these massive gaps will close themselves over the course of the day 70% of the time. I normally don't like to gamble with my money but that is a very nice % in the world of the stock market. Yesterday, if you were to play teh gap you would buy in as soon as you notice the gap, first thing in the morning or whenever, set a trailing stop to protect on teh down side, and set your selling target to 20.10, its close from the previous day. If you wanted to play the gap today, you would short it on open, set trailing stop to buy back for loss protection, and set a buy to cover point of yesterdays close at 20.82. If you played both of them with 1000 shares that would be two $1000.00 profit trades. I just got back from a trip with my friend so sadly I didn't go in, but if I see these gaps in the morning it is a definite play for me.

I just wouldn´t dare to even think of trying that. Ever share I have ever bought has instantly collapsed.

My specific experience is in energy markets, crude oil, nat gas, emissions, ... So I like to use that knowledge to trade the energy sector, as well as stay up on new alternative energies that will soon take over our current methods of energy production/consumption (such as Tesla motors n their new electric car line), staying up on new generations of wind/solar/hydro technology as that will play a huge roll in breaking our nationwide dependance on foreign natural resources (mainly, oil), and many other sectors ...

I worked 3 years as a commodities broker before resigning to work on my degree in economics. I love statistics and playing poker, as well! I think if you understand math & economics, like to take risk, you'll find a lot of good traders make good poker players! My goal is to play in the WPT main event within the next couple years. Def want to give that a shot =)

Feel free to private message me if you would like to talk about the market, strategies/spreads, economics/politics, ... Would like to hear about your market experience!

One love! =)

FOREX is my game. just a beginner though. anyone interested in getting started i would recommend checking out Investopedia or babypips websites. those great educational sites to give anyone a good idea how it works. Good thing about forex is you can start with very little cash, $200 or $300 to open micro accounts.

if anyone need gold/gold coins let me know. lots of pre 1933 stuff.
The fact that coins are pre 33 means nothing today, the order to confiscate gold has been rescinded, if they are going to confiscate it again new rules will be written and those older coins will probably not be included anymore. When gold was confiscated, if you held the gold in your house it was left alone, the govt did not go door to door taking gold. The gov't went to the banks and removed all the gold from vaults and safe deposits. People were allowed to hold 5 ounces personally, and since they never knew how much you had to begin with if you held it private, then you were still well off even if you had thousands of ounces.

i'm a currency (forex) trader here. i day trade currencies but i dont' trade any stocks. i trade options on stocks but haven't been in the options market for almost a year now. i focus on aud/usd, usd/jpy, eur/usd the most. lately the forex markets have been all kinds of fucked up with all the manipulation going on. if anyone's interested, you can check out my blog where i post some of my trades at http://www.420trader.net

i use basic trendline and support/resistance, ema's, rsi, cci, macd.

margin is the amount of equity you need to have in your account to maintain an open trade position. if you have a micro or mini account it's the same as having a standard account except the amount of margin required is obviously less but percentage-wise it's probably the same.

when i first started researching this stuff in high school (after getting inspired by movies like wall street, boiler room, rogue trader lol), i was in the same position. i went to the library and would read 3 books a week on all aspects of finance. i didn't know where the fuck to even start. from stocks, options, etfs, forex, technical analysis, fundamental analysis, etc. eventually, i decided to move forward concentrating on forex. i started with websites like babypips.com. then i started reading a lot of books on forex. i started up a play money/fake money account then moved up to microlots, then mini then standard. i also attended classes on trading. it's a big investment, but if you have the doe and you're really looking to excel, i suggest looking for good academies on trading. online trading academy is a good one (OTA) and it's not online lol.

it does matter. if you have a $5 indian (bullion) and a $5 indian in MS63 or MS64 there is a huge price change even higher if you go into the higher MS grades.

I'm a beginner swing trader, all stocks but looking to get into options. Would love to get advice from some of you guys. I'm pretty much a rookie when it comes to technical analysis but at the moment i'm trying trading between WMA in trends. Any advice from some of you veterans would be appreciated as i'm pursuing a career in finance. I'm currently a sophmore double majoring in finance.
