Hydroguard might actually be doing you a favor...... Give this a good read. I see a picture in this thread on another website that has exactly what you are describing. There is also GREAT info and a few links regarding slime, algae, etc. RICHYRICH's posts are very helpful...

Here is another copy+paste quote from someone on the same forum. Not sure if you might have used hygrozyme or a similar product in the past?

"I am already using hydroguard and hygrozyme. When I put a sample of the roots into a clear plastic bag with tap water, the stuff on the roots looked white and fuzzy, kind of like mold. So I took a sample of the roots into the local hydro store, and the guy told me it looks like I might have had a bad batch of hygrozyme or that my hygrozyme possibly went bad. He thought this b/c hygrozyme is suppose to take care of this kind of problem. But seeing as it is an organic solution, it is possible that it went bad. I cleaned the rez out and cleaned everything but the plants and net pots. I cleaned the roots with a mixture of h2o2 and water @ a concentration of 20ml h2o2/gal.
Started a fresh bottle of hygrozyme."

Hope that helps! :leaf: Read my thread! :leaf:

Vumar, you are a legend to me on this forum lol.

Well i cleaned my system through with some plain water and then a fresh batch of nutrients. It seems to have stopped now... however... the "gunk" seems to be sitting at the bottom of the bucket. best way to describe it is.... it kind of looks like sand would... i.e, just grouped together laying on the bottom.

Realistically, would a chiller help me over come all of these problems? im going to say its due to water temps, ive insulated my buckets... my water however still gets warm. I'm probably just going to buy a chiller.

A chiller means you would likely run sterile (h202) instead of hydroguard/canna-zymne-whatever. Low temps add Dissolved Oxygen and prevents almost all bacterial/fungi issue(s) that you'll encounter. I'm avoiding buying a chiller until I can finish this harvest and upgrade in general.

I just got rid of some crazy ass stuff in my res. but it happened to be the base nutes themselves in the end. Water was cloudy the second day then shit every where, it killed my roots. I tried everything from a Bennie tea to h20 , hygrozyme, and sensizyme, but I guess the plant made bad batches of the advanced nutes sensi a b. The hydro store took it all down from the shelf. I've been using it for three years and this is the first time it happened. But I switched to GH using a modified Lucas formula about 4 days ago and my roots are finally growing. But the a.n supplements still seem to be fine.

It all seems to of calmed down now.. i change my water every 7 days so should keep it in check.
Summers en route though.... should be an experience. Definitely have to buy a chiller
