Any guess to whats going on here?

PPM raised to 700, I didn't want to put it that high but better than the 1200 it was when I originally added some fert...had to dump out 1/2 the water and fill with fresh to lower it back down..oops.

ill check PH and PPM again later today and report back. things are looking good otherwise, roots are regaining that white color, I think my issue was I didn't fill the rez enough and they were "damping off" once I filled the rez up to cover the roots the brown went away and they started looking good again..

I really hope my next hydro attempt goes a lot smoother than this.

Oops indeed. Lol.

I sometimes do similar things with Ca and Mg lol.

If you want it to run smoother next time then just watch your ppm from the get go.

With hydro, ppm and ph monitoring generally tells you everything you need to know.

well I was actually monitoring it from the start I really think that my aeration was the main issue. after I put in the 5 gal tote things seemed to realy take a turn for the better. wont be using such a large res again...live and learn.

ok now im a bit concerned. PH has dropped to 4.5. and yes I did re calibrate my meter.

and PPM has dropped from 715 to about 645

Could be that they are sucking up the K out of your solution and when that happens pH drops.

Have you got any up?

Or potassium Silicat?

I think im going to rez change and start in on the bloom nutes see how that does. I did have some extra money but it got spent on other stuff so now im broke again haha.

The trouble is that higher ppm generally means a lower starting pH.

Something else I found in hydro was the veg tends to see ph rise and flower tends to see ph fall.

Baking soda would work but I couldn't advise you on it as I've never used it.

Could be worthwhile at some point purchasing a POTASSIUM SILCAT supplement for ph up.

DYNA make PRO-TEK or something to that effect.

Whenever I have to up my pH I always use the Si supplement.

I used to use the Si in my regime regardless but after a while it became such a chore to lower the pH, I was using copious amounts of pH down to get within range and then because of how much pH down I was using it was effecting the EC and making it go up outside where I wanted it to be. So now it is my ph up when needed.

When/if you get any make sure to read the directions as you need to either add it first or dilute into water before adding to your mix.

When used raw into a NUTE mix you can get precipitation happening where it renders some nutrient elements unusable and can sometimes cause solids to be suspended in the solution.

Either mix first into your water (wait 10mins after adding before mixing other nutes) or dilute into plain water for using as pH up.

Baking powder works. I dissolve a teaspoon in some water then add slowly while checking the ph. Baking soda should work but I would be concerned about the Na in it.

Just dissolve the pill in some water then add till the ph is at least 5.5, 5.8 might be better in case it drops again. Hopefully there is nothing bad in the pill

Cellulose, Stearic acid (vegetable source), Magnesium Stearate (vegetable source) and silica are the "other ingredients. it came from one of them "natural food" stores.

What is it with you and supplement pills. Lol.

Here's the DYNA version.

Generally in 18L of water if my ph is around 5.4 it takes about 2-3ml of Si to up it to 5.8-6.0.

Bloody supplement pills lol.

I don't know where the cal/mag pill came from, I found them when I was looking for gel capsules to crush shrooms up in. I bought the potassium ones for my EECT thinking it would give a nice boost for flowering. the only thing that sucks with them is that you don't know how much your giving...I mean I could crush one up and then dissolve in a 1 gal jug of water and check PPM then divide that into 4 gal and it would give me how much it will increase my PPM in 4 gal of water (theres about 3.5-4 gal of water in my bucket, cant fill it completely).

I will order some fo the pro tek stuff. only 10 bucks I think I can swing that.

there was a time when I first started growing...bought a lot of stuff I don't know why and don't use anymore..

on a side note this onle plant flowering seems to be really progressing fast, talking there was about 6 pistols on the tops yesterday and today there is double. I cant wait till it starts shaping into buds ..this is the worse time of the grow for me as it dosent look like anything bit a scraggly plant.. couple weeks from now once the buds start to really take shape is the best part, and I like vegging as well because you get to mold the plant as a whole itno what she will be when she grows up..

not sure why I just typed all that..lol
