Any experience on MJ and acid reflux?

I have acid reflux and have often thought that weed, or at least a lot at one time, caused flareups. But others say it is helpful. I'm just trying to sort it out so thanks for any feedback!

I experience a range of digestive issues and I find Med Marijuana very helpful. I find that it helps the naseau and pressure of GERDS, helps the spasms from my IBS and can help ease my migraines.

GERDS is actually listed as a approved condition here in Coloado and I am sure in other states as well that allow MMJ. Good luck to you but remember to experiment a bit to find what strains work best for you.

Thanks. Have you ever had the experience thatit was stimulating the digestive system and maybe bringing symptoms on? I have thought that in the past but now that I sort through it, it may have been what Iwas eating or drinking with the MJ and I was blaming the MJ.

i have the reflux myself, pretty well controlled with pepcid
haven't really noticed that MJ affects it at all, for me it seems to be neutral

Dude, I completely understand what you mean. If i cough really hard while smoking, I get HORRIBLE acid reflux. It feels like the back of my throat is on fire, and even when i drink water, its still burning. I have it going on as we speak! lol. I correct this by taking smaller hits, that dont make me cough so hard, more frequently. Gets me just as high, without the burning acid relux :p

I have really bad GERD and acid reflux. Ive taken prescription everything you could imagine for it. I quit eating spicey foods and cut out sodas.

I wake up every morning with nausea so bad Im litterally gagging to almost puking. Its nasty. I cant eat anything either as I just feel so sick.

I smoke a bowl after I wake up and 15 minutes later I feel ok enough I can eat then all is good for the rest of the day.

I got a doctor recommendation pretty much for this reason alone.

I still take aciphex but only like maybe once a week now instead of 2-3 pills + tums all day every day.

So yeah, it helps me :-P

i have the same problem. And i also stopped eating spicy foods. And i take smaller hits as well like you said. does help. sometimes i do get an ache in my stomach after i smoke. I take prevacid. but not when i smoke. when i take my medication and i smoke. i get pretty bad headaches. all this annoying crap started wit my food poisoning from Mr. Taco's taco. I HATE THEM!!

smoking anything tends to aggravate heartburn. the smoke goes down your eso and irritates your stomach valve, which then is less likely to close all the way, leaking that warm HCl out and up your eso. sucks cuz once it starts, the constant irritation doesnt let it heal, so its a violent circle for those of us with overactive stomach juices. pepcid works well for me.

well that sucks. what if u take ur medication before u smoke. i take prevacid before i eat and smoke. as long as i'm not smoking withing 2 hours or so of taking prevacid. i will be good. but if i do smoke. i get crazy headaches. this sucks. all these stomach problems i have were cause by h. pylori. i'm 19 and already staying away from spicy foods.
so to feel relieved. do u think it be best i don't smoke? cause i love to smoke. but i love to live. ;D

Hello Illegal Smile,

I have acid reflux also. I take Nexium for it but I find that weed generally helps me a lot more. (Edit: Before I started taking Nexium though, i was REALLY sick, so I guess it has helped me a lot. My main trigger was alcohol.)

However, I have noticed that if I haven't eaten enough sometimes weed will make my acid flare up a bit if I smoke enough without eating enough.

Basically, it's a game of staying in touch with your body and trying to do what feels best. I find that healthy carbohydrates help me the most when I have acid reflux after smoking. Something like a piece of toast with honey, or even a small sandwich if you're hungry can help your stomach. I also tend to eat more than the average person as a result of my acid reflux, but I try to keep active to burn off extra calories.

So that's about it. Also, I notice that sativas tend to hurt my stomach more when I'm hungry because they STIMULATE your appetite. Indicas are more likely to calm your stomach I think. Well anyway, that's my personal experience.
