89w for 846 PPFD/PPF at 14-16" in an 18x18, 480 in a 24x24. 800-900 is about the sweet spot for the best flowering light. That's about 85-90% of what a plant can handle (1200 max. At 1500, photoinhibition starts to occur.).

I'm pushing capitate-sessile resin glands/immature trichomes on 2-day-old seedlings. I ordered a second one by air today.

Now that's something I've never seen. I'll take a look at my seedlings tomorrow and see if I have any baby trichomes forming.
That definitely looks killer though. Do the COBS improve trichomes density in the finished bud over LED and HID as well?

They compare to a whatever HID-comparative intensity they put out, and because of their efficiency and the fact that legal growers are quickly depleting the energy put out by power plants, I predict COBs will replace HPS and MH as the standard, either by convenience, necessity or policy.

I an using one, soon two, 36v Cree CXB3590s with 3500k color, 80 CRI, driven at 2150 mA which is pretty high. They max out at 3600mA.

89w,
78w put out by the emitter,
39 PAR watts, so 50% efficiency,
178PPF
850PPFD in an 18x18 at 14-16".
480 in the 24x24.

I think the two Tasty T1-2100s driven with the higher amperage drivers, both independent of each other will probably outperform the T2-2100 driven slightly lower.

Thanks for the detailed thread @TheRealAntics! This is Tom from Platinum, we recently released a blog post in which we discuss white LEDs and COBs and how they can be effectively used for growing. Let us know what your think.

What up @TheRealAntics? From what i've read you the presence of UVA and/or UVB light will help increase trichome density. UVB light may decrease weight and bud density, due to the plant stress, but will help increase terpene levels for that dank smell. Really depends if you are growing flower use UVA, if you want oil or wax add UVB and UVA.

Not using UV, just COBs. And we were discussing the fact that my seedling had trichomes. Still in veg, and the trics are highly visible.

Oh. Fun. Negativity already.

The lights were purchased directly from platinumgrowlights.com, for anyone that has a genuine interest in the comparison.
I am very interested... I have a p300 and was wondering if the p450 would make much of a difference in a 2x2 scrog setup?
