Another post about heat with a 600W

600W cool hood.
4in inline outtake.
72-73 ambient in house
Passive intake.
Tent is 3x3x5.5
Hood is just about out of room in the tent tho

Can't get heat under 85-90

have you considered a small AC unit or and evaporative cooler if you live in a dry desert area? heat is a problem with HIDs but in that space a 400 watt MH/HPS fixture may work well with less heat

Just stick the hps away and buy 315w lec /cmh. I did ditch my 600w for cmh, never using 600w again. Fire hazard, plants don't like hps like they like cmh. Best thing I did with my growing!

I run 9x600 hps in my room I have no AC I run all bat wing. Just make sure you run fans that will do the job.

What's the difference between these CMH versus hid?

a 600w hid lamp is an inefficient light, that gives off fuck loads of heat.

315w cmh is more of a spectrum like the sun. Much closer to full spectrum than hps. White light basically. Also means you can see your plants properly, unlike under hps.

600w hps draws 660w, 315w cmh draws 340w, so almost double the w, for about the same amount of light. These are under 1 315w cmh, though I did have 2 cmh lamps in there for half the grow. These are 7 1/2 weeks from seed here. Sweet cheese's.

Many say the plants grow faster under cmh, due to the wide spectrum.

Also the quality and smell is better than hps, as it is with led too. Led grown bud is very similar to cmh.

Imagine having a lamp that runs 10% hotter than a 250w lamp, that covers 1m x 1m minimum. I use them in 4ft x 4ft areas.

do have 315w cmh 4200 daylight lamps too, also the 3100k agro lamps.

Hps spectrum is pretty crap compared to cmh, especially with the daylight lamp. I hit over 1 gram per watt with the daylight lamp, in 8 weeks from seed with auto's. Only time I've ever got 1 gram per watt. You can have these lamps 1ft from the tops, though 3ft is a good distance, mainly coz you get the perfect environment. Running 2 315w cmh unit side by side, 1ft from the canopy is far, far better than a 600w hps at 12''-18''. I intent to run 630w cmh still, howver it doesn;t change the fact that a single 315w cmh lamp is brilliant to use and a pleasure to grow under.

Alright I'm starting to understand that. Do you need more vertical space to run the heat out or is that only wit the Gativas.

Great info I was wondering if HID were a bit old school TeCh

Bigger fan. You need a 6in with at least 300cfm bare minimum.

Are you venting the hot air OUTSIDE the room the tent is in?
I am venting the air outside. I did assume I would need a larger fan but thought 190cfms was enough for the light and tent but with my 400w batwing. I kept temps at 79-82.

Using cmh creates height to grow in As you can hang them 4 inches from the top of the tent, and plants can grow up to 16 inches from the top of the tent roof then

That won't happen with a 1000w hps or a 600w as the plants will already be fried like eggs by then, go crusty, dry etc

Even a cooltube takes 10% of the light away, so you ain't getting the all the watts anyway from a 600w or 1000w.

Yea I think the temps jump a bit more than expected between 400w - 600w

Try a new 6in fan I'm sure that will help
