Another Innocent Black Man Killed By a White Cop - With No Consequences for the Cop

There may already be a thread somewhere on this topic. If there is, I apologize.

http://www.cnn.com/2014/12/16/justice/walmart-shooting-john-crawford/index.html

A young black man and his girlfriend walk into a Wal Mart to buy ingredients for a dessert dish for a family gathering. Somewhere along the way (inside the store), the man picks up an air rifle. Someone sees him walking around with an air rifle, gets scared, calls the police, and the police come and shoot the man dead. That's the short version of the story, with all relevant facts (as far as I can tell).

Then the cops aggressively interrogate his girlfriend, try to intimidate her, threaten her with jail time, trying to get her to say that her boyfriend brought the gun into the store. She refuses to cave in, but is in obvious distress (during her long interrogation). Only then does the asshole interrogator tell her that her boyfriend is dead.

The shooter (cop) is not disciplined in any manner. The DA says the incident was a "perfect storm with no bad guys".

Just as an aside note to all the people who gave me hell in

Carrying and brandishing are NOT the same thing, I'll have to do more research on this particular case but remember, Mike Brown was initially described by the media as a teenager boy innocently walking home from the store...

i see no correlation whatsoever to the right to open carry and this sad tragedy you disgustingly try to use to advocate your mistrust in mankind as a whole. you have just made the top spot of my shit list and i'm genuinely eager to see any and all your responses from here on out.

This is from the CNN article about the original incident...

Witness Ronald Ritchie called 911 to report "a gentleman walking around with a gun in the store," according to a recording of the call.

Ritchie, who can be heard in 911 recordings released by the Beavercreek police department after the incident, says that a man was carrying what appeared to be a rifle, pointing it at people and "waving it back and forth."

It was later reported that Ritchie is a vehement opponent of the second amendment and is in a group that has promised to call 911 every time they see someone with a gun.

In a very real sense, Ritchie is directly responsible for the death of this Walmart shopper.

i agree, unless they're going to make laws permitting the open carry of rifles, this story really is apples to banana clips imo..

I support people's right to "carry" arms, brandishing them carelessly like pointing them at people is completely unacceptable.

Imo, the guy committed "suicide by cop".

Do you think there would've been an issue if he was carrying a weapon in a holster and some dickhead called the cops?

Hypothetically he could've explained that it's his legal right to carry (either by permit or legal open carry) and that would've been that.

Waving it around and pointing it at people will get you shot.

Guns 101: Don't produce/point a weapon unless you are about to use it.

The thing is, the whole thing was captured on video tape. The guy was not brandishing anything, he was carrying a BB gun that he was going to purchase. The 911 caller made up the whole, "he is pointing a rifle at people" story. The 911 caller murdered that guy, he just used the police as his weapon.

If what you say is true then the cops dealt with it badly, not the dude in the store.

"Curtain twitchers" report stupid shit to the cops all the time, it's the cop's job to not shoot people if the circumstances are as you say.

Does video lie? Watch the cops shoot first then ask questions of the corpse.

Its fucking stupid to walk around with what many liberals will see as a machine gun, and of course they are going to call and be all scared and shit.

Here is video

As you can see he made an "aggressive move"....... to get away.

observations from the tape
as he walks past where he picked up the weapon, he barely slows down as he snatches it off the shelf. i would think if you're intent on purchasing it you would pause to examine it where they are displayed. also, don't these come packaged in some type of box, not just laying there? he spends some time toward the end doing something with it (loading?). the 4 people at the very end in the fish aisle turn around and walk the other way when they see him. I would have too as a customer. tough call to make on behalf of police. too bad no audio.

So What does the skin color have to do with this ?

The man was walking around with a new store bought air rifle in it`s packaging, someone lied to police about the man`s behavior and the man get`s shot and killed.

It just don`t make any sense to say that the man had to be shot and not describe what went down when it is almost certain this was caught on camera. You can`t lie, you have to say what the camera saw or get caught lying.

But the color of the man`s skin is not a factor until someone makes it that way.

It looked like odd behavior for a few minutes there. I would have most likely avoided the man too. Doubt I would have shot him.

Cops looked like cowards there. Police! Drop your weapon! might have been a good first step.

Unreal.
