American: The bipartisan way

Why do we restrict ourselves to a 2 party system? Especially one that is clearly failing?
Our forefathers didn't believe in a bipartisan government, why do we?
The 2 party system has become corrupt beyond correction, and abolishment should be our only action, why don't we collectively act on such?

This a thread intended for the discussion of ANY type of government, whether it be bipartisan or a monarchy.
We have 2 "bad" candidates for president in nov 2012... We need to set things straight, if not now, then we have another 4 years to blame upon no one but ourselves.

I don't think there is anything wrong with our type of government, there is just too much of it. As No Drama so eloquently put it, in another thread, congress was granted power in the Constitution to handle the finances and regulate the currency. Spending is out of control and anybody that tries to cut back is voted out of office. Congress has less than no say on monetary policy, they take their marching orders from Elmer Fudd... excuse me, Ben Bernanke.

"Give me control of a nation's currency and I care not who makes it's laws"
