What up guys, JoeBudz here. So eventually I'm going to start my own grow (I'm so damn excited!) but I'm trying to learn all I can (and lets be honest, scrape up the cash) before I give it a shot. I've been reading tons and tons but I never want to stop learning. I figured it would be cool to connect with the folks who have real experience and advice to help me maximize my first attempt. Then in the future I'll be able to help out some noobs just like myself. Looking forward to hearing from you guys!

It doesn't have to cost the earth.

My first foray into indoor growing I spent about £400 on kit. I had to buy a roof qube tent which was more expensive than a normal shaped one. I could have saved by building a grow room but the tent was a better bet for me.

DO NOT OVERSPEND ON NUTRIENTS!!! Get a cheap and simple brand like Jacks Classic 20-20-20 or Dyna Gro Foliage Pro. Hard to screw up and cheap.
Use reasonable quality bagged soil from the garden centre or wherever. You don't need to spend a fortune on fancy dirt.
Don't bother with different bulbs for veg and flower. Invest in a digital ballast and a 600w hps. 5 inch extractor and carbon filter should do unless you live somewhere hot.

That's just my first thoughts based on my approach to my first grow. :)

Make priority number one getting through the first grow with green healthy plants. That's it.

Then repeat but tweak your method, try something new like a training technique or cloning.

Don't change too much at once or you'll have difficulty identifying what factor improved or hindered the grow.

you first grow isnt going to be anything exciting unless you get lucky
ive seen some newbies get there setup kit from amazon or ebay or a grow shop nearby
you can get a full kit from as little as £150 uk pounds for a couple of plants grow then out earn some cash from it and upgrade this is what i did know i run a very nice system
