my pH is just above 7.0 and i need to bring it down. i added i tablespoon of aluminum sulfate to the top of the soil expecting it to be watered in slowly. is that too much and should i expect plant problems? it said the whole bag for 400 square feet, so i thot 1 tablepoon would be alright for about 1 square foot of soil in my pot.
did i just kill my plant or am i fixing it? any help is appreciated.

I have the same problem about adding Lime and plant food... I've noticed that it does work better if you rake it in good... and I used enough for 10sq feet of soil, first time grower, but when you add stuff to soil it usually knows how much to take from it and works slowly... LESS IS MORE though always at first. I used crushed eggshells to bring my ph down it works well.... 6 crush eggshells per gallon of water crush stir and strain a bunch the water will be all nice and foggy brought mine down 1 point

thanks man, i think i have a nitrogen def. too. so i peed in a gallon jug, just like an 1/8 of the way full. then filled it up half way with distilled water. urine has nitrogen in ammonia form and is acidic, and its free! some people think its gross, but i and tons of other people around the world since ancient times have been using urine as a natural organic fertilizer. dilute it first tho. to each their own i guess.

ok well i just bought a new digital ph meter and it said the soil was at 5.8... im going to go scrape off the top layer of soil where i added the aluminum sulfate i think the pH might not be the problem. it seems to be doing all right now i mean, bud are coming in, from what i can tell leaves stopped turning yellow. maybe it was from overwater because it rained 5 inches in about an hour 3 days in a row...
