Alternative lighting

Hi all,

I'm gonna be putting a mother/veg/clone closet together in the next few days and just wanted some opinions on non hid lighting
The closet will be split into 3 sections mothers on bottom, veg in middle, and clones on top. The footprint of closet is 1'x2 and the mother and veg sections are 3'6" tall, the clone section is 1'6" tall.

Which light would be best for the different sections?

Depends on if you're willing to do a bit of research and use a bit of elbow grease. If you are I'd suggest some home made LED's. A passively cooled vero 29 running at 10 watts could be built for about $50-60 and operate at roughly 60% efficiency and output a little over 2k lumen each. The six of them would be perfect for your application, two on each level. I can post a parts list if interested.

The next best bet would be a cheap 2' T5HO from homedepot. 2-4 bulbs per level.

I'd avoid CFL's if possible, very low efficiency both in terms of the system and in terms of delivery.

It needs to be up and running in the next few days tbh, could I not buy a led unit? I don't have any experience with anything other than hid lighting. I'm in the uk soooo... No Home Depot lol but I can source some t5 ho and also vho. Maybe 4 tubes each for veg and moms and 2 tubes over my clones? Thanks for ur input mate

You could buy an LED panel. However most are pretty expensive. Since you're in the UK I don't know where to point you other than the hans panel.

You could probably get away with two on each level, but things will progress slower. Four would probably be great.

Head over to the LED and other lighting section if you ever want to upgrade. There are good folks in there who are eager to help.
