Well things are going along quite nice. I have most of my room built now. Just finishing up on a few things and I should be ready to go. It has been quite the long process building this room from the ground up. Started by getting my medical card and then to building the room itself. Ill let the pics do the talking on that. Im not a builder by any means, but, I find myself somewhat handy with tools ;).

Just have to do the following,

get my PH/PPM/temp meter
wire in my cooltube fan and hook up the ducts
finish the plumbing on the coolers
built the lids for the 100qt coolers(the 150qt will just be for res change outs)
re-hang the light so i dont have to mess with the extra cords pulling it to the center of the coolers
build the screen

So my questions

1. Should I use the 3" net pots I ordered, or should I look for some larger ones?
2. Should I run 3 plants or 4 plants in each cooler?
3. Im debating getting a de-humidifier. What should the humidity be kept at for veg/flower?
4. What is the easiest way to wire in the cooltube fan? Im no electrician, I want it on a timer to go on when the light does, and off about 15min after. Is there a timer I could pickup and wire this in easily?

On to some pics,

Hey mate, that room is AWESOME!!! I think you should do 3 plants per cooler and maybe get the bigger net pots. Can't help you on the other questions. Good luck!

yea..this thread looks awesome!..i have 1 question for ya..where did you get that carbon filter and fan from?..looks like the one i've had my eye on.

Why is the reservoir elevated and why aren't you using the insulated cooler lids?

I would think that 4 plants per would get pretty crowded.

Love the planning and work so far. Looks pretty damn good for someone who claims not to be a builder.

I know this sounds dumb, but the brass in the soil may cause defficiancy issues. Metals in the soil + watering = reaction. I always try to stick to pvc/abs. Maybe I'm just really jealous because I wish I had a room that size. Looking good.

that rain or shine is good shit! try some thru-hull fittings (local fish&pet store / marine store) if you run into leaking issues. I can't believe you found an NPT that fits the stock cooler!

brass is lead and copper. It oxidizes and leaches contaminants that are absorbed by the roots. Saying its fine and proving its fine are completely different things. But you are potentially smoking traces of these metals, which cause cancer and brain damage. I have had brass valves on some containers and PVC on others, and definitely saw a difference in health under the same lighting. I have also had a nickle plated brass quarter inch swivel pressure connection kill a thousand dollars worth of fish from the excessive copper in a 500 gallon sw tank.

It was just something I thought worth mentioning, since not many people consider the dangers at all.. considering we use it in our drinking water systems all day long, it seems harmless.

I have seen people use brass for brewing also, just because you can still brew your beer, doesn't mean its not a health issue.

If you are concerned about the brass, you could use a vinegar solution to remove the surface lead from the brass. That's what is suggested when building Brew Rigs with brass.

I say brass is fine as that is the metal most float valve manufactures use and that made me ask the question in the past.

Im keeping it higher so that I dont have to run a pump to get water into the 100qt igloos. I simply shut the valve once its to the level I want. This also keeps the water from draining the wrong way. Granted, there is a valve to keep it from entering the 150qt.

Im not using the cooler lids for 1 reason, these suckers are expensive! No point in ruining them if I dont have to. If you look at the picture of the exterior of the room, you can see the big piece of purple insulation. It has a R13 value and will work just as good, if not better, than the lids. Plus, the entire top will be flat and much easier to wrap with panda film and cut holes in for the net pots.

I found it on Amazon. Not sure how well it works, but, it was pretty cheap and came with the can-fan. Figured I can always get a better one later.

Im not concerned about the brass vs pvc issue. If it becomes a problem, I will simply plug the hole from the inside with a PVC cap. Im sure I can find a fitting for it.

Rain or shine? Not sure what your talking about? If I run into some leaking issues, Im sure I can plug it up. I am liberal when it comes to sealants. ;).

BTW, these coolers have hose fittings for drains ;)

I can only suggest to everyone, drop the $50-60 on one of these! SUCH a sick deal for a res and will work WAY better than ANY tote! I doubt the temps will EVER reach 70* inside. Then again, this is my FIRST grow EVER. SO, only time will tell :blsmoke:

Thanks for all the input so far. Really looking forward to getting some green in the room. I will def be looking for advice once this gets underway. Ive been able to find most the information on my own, however, I can only imagine there will be some uncertainties along the way.

Strain has been picked. My buddy is getting me 6 headband clones. :) For those that dont know, its a cross of OG Kush and Sour Diesel.

Also, I posted this in a new thread, but figured seeing its my grow and this is my journal, Ill post it here to! :)

Im going to pickup all my nutrients when a local shop has a 20% off sale on the 8th of October. My clones will be ready to go on the 9th. Im trying to hammer out exactly what I am going to need for this grow. What I have on the list right now,

Veg 3-4 weeks until screen is 60% or so full:
Sensi Grow A+B
Voodoo Juice - or something cheaper, this stuff is expensive! suggestions?
other suggestions?

Bloom:
Sensi Bloom A+B
Big Bud
Bud Candy
anything else?

The store also carries a earth worm casing liquid, I cant recall what its for or what its suppose to do. Perhaps you guys could guess at that. But, would something like this be good to run? Its $11 for a half gallon.

So, overall I will be running (2) 100qt(25gallon) igloo coolers via DWC bubbleponics with (2)10" air stones in each running on 2 pumps(each can operate up to (12) 10" air stones and has a speed adjuster).

Now, Im trying to go off the Advance Nutrients calculator, but I keep reading its off by a lot. Ill be running all my water through a RO unit and into the rez, let it bubble for 24 hours, then draining into the plant cooler itself for week 1. Next, I will prep week 2 rez water by bubbling 25 gallons for 24 hours, then add nutes to bring it up to ~150ppm. Drain 1 plant cooler, then fill. Start new rez water on bubble for 24hrs cycle, bring up to 150ppm, drain plant cooler #2 and fill with new rez water.

Repeat for 4 weeks or until screen is 60%, then flip, stretch and hope for max fill on the screen.

Week 4 bring up to about 450ppm and do a change out as described during the first part. Hopefully by week 12(week 8 flower) I can be at 1300ppm.

SO, could someone help me figure out how much nutes I "should" use during this grow? If you could do more than just say that would be great, would like to be able to figure this out myself in the future.

If you have a ppm meter start at 0 (no nutes) for the cuttings for a few days then go up 100 ppm per week. All they really need is cloning solution first.. skip this if where ever you're getting them from has already established roots for a few days. Really ease them in for the first couple weeks then you can go higher. I don't use a ppm meter, but a feeding schedule. GL

I just ordered a RO filtration system. Should be here in a few days. Also just ordered a multi-meter. Should be here in a week or so.

Got the RO system today...and the stupid fitting for the pure water is busted from the filter! AAAH! Hopefully they will replace it. If not, not going to worry about it. Ill pickup some silicone and fix it myself.

So my questions

1. Should I use the 3" net pots I ordered, or should I look for some larger ones? 6"
2. Should I run 3 plants or 4 plants in each cooler? 3
3. Im debating getting a de-humidifier. What should the humidity be kept at for veg/flower? 50-75%/30-40%
4. What is the easiest way to wire in the cooltube fan? Im no electrician, I want it on a timer to go on when the light does, and off about 15min after. Is there a timer I could pickup and wire this in easily? If you have a harbor freight near by they have really cheep lighting timers digital or pull tab, if your using an exhaust fan to vent your cooltube you'll have to have it on a separate timer than your lights if your going to have the fan come on before and stay on after. Just plug your fan into the timer then plug the timer into an outlet.

Hey undercurrentdwc, thanks for the details there! I was just looking at some of your other threads! Digging the under current system that flows back to the central rez. If I was up to hack these 100qt igloos up I would probably do it. Maybe in the future.

picked up a small eco185 water pump, a 3/4 female hose adapter and some hose for when i want to drain the 100qt igloos back into the 150qt igloo. Also picked up another timer and a 10 outlet electrical strip from Home Depot.

updated pics to come. SOOOO close to getting green in here! for now, this will have to do :leaf:

4 Liters of Sensi Grow A
4 Liters of Sensi Grow B
4 Liters of Sensi Bloom A
4 Liters of Sensi Bloom B
1 Liter of Voodoo Juice
1 Liter of Sensizym
1 Liter of Bud Candy
1 Liter of Big Bud Liquid
