Well that's awesome. Yeah would defiantly love to see some finish pics of the genetics you got going. You can always pm me if he doesn't want them up on a thread.

Yeah I've always had success with FFOF, wasn't necessarily trying a new thing. Just figured it work better then my mix, which was FFOF to begin with after a year or two of reusing and reamdening ect. After this happened, and hearing it has happened to a lot of people that used FFOF, Im not using it anymore. I have boughten a large 30g+ tote that is full of my old soil, leaves and stems, vermicompost. Just cooking it up and should be ready for the new ones to flower and new babies for veg.

T5 will do for now but will defiantly want to get that HPS going for flower at least. Yeah you'll be amazed with what those HPSs can do.

This was actually my first run that I did with my new light. I replaced my 600w HPS and my 384w Apollo Purple Sun LED fixture with my custom made one.

The custom one was made for the specific dimensions of my growing area, which is 6 1/2' x 2'. It covers it perfectly. I didn't really get to see it "shine" so to speak, since my plants did so poorly. But I expect to get a GPW easily when I'm running smooth.

For 8 COBs ran at 1400mA gives me 50w's a piece. I basically cut my electricy use for flowering in half, got a better, more even spread of light, they put out the same if not better lumens, they are not as rough on the plant.
We shall see, just PM'd him ;)

The thing is the FFOF had time to desaturate before, the fresh stuff is way too hot. The idea is a good one, you know what works and doesn't. Lots of growers think they have to push high amounts of N clear through flower but the truth is, the N should be stopped before that.

I'm pretty excited to see the results from the HPS. We have a 1000w bulb already from his old ballast. He was pulling 1/2 to 3/4 pd per plant with it before. We've got a good regime going, he told me what nutes we're using but I can't remember just now..still waking up. Hahahaa

I remember when you built that, glad it's working out good for you brother. How many total lumens is that putting out? This bulb we have puts out 140k, it's gonna cost plenty to operate. The power bill is 200 mth without it so you know that shit is going up..lol guess that's what I get for buying a 2000+ sq ft house. Hahaaa

I was looking to put high N in the soil. I understand the basics of plant science and the 17 elements and compounda a plant needs to survive. And it's basic knowledge that you want high N for veg and low N for flower. So I don't exactly know why you keep bringing up all this Nitrogen feed in flowering?

Yeah I don't know if my numbers are correct but I know it's at least 120k lumens minimum for my 400w system. And it cost me I think 5 bucks a month. Our electricity is very cheap because it's locally owned by our city and we basically all own a part of it. Kwh price doesn't raise in the winter either.

That's defiantly a decent sized house! Can't wait to see the room you guys have for flowering and using that beasty 1k HPS.

There's a reason for it, just trying to help ;) its great for vegging absolutely, but it tends to make the finished product a lot harsher if you go too long using it and can actually cause the plants to take up less potash which you know more is the whole point for flowers in mj, specifically. Not all plants are created equal..what works for most plants doesn't necessarily apply to mj.

That's pretty awesome output for 400w, kudos! You are lucky to have that deal, we're looking to install some solar panels next year if everything works out right. The power company here will actually pay us to make our own, so that's a bonus right there not to mention the tax break we'll get as homeowners. For the win! haha

Thanks, we're actually using a closet right now, we're not growing too many just now and the ones we are we'll be taking cuttings from and flowering out to see which ones are the best. We won't flower the plants themselves because we're setting up hydro sometime in the spring and need mothers established.

So you're saying I was intentionally feeding Nitrogen during flowering?

I don't understand why you are so fixated on this Nitrogen.

What's with everybody having their backs up lately? I wasn't trying to offend you or say you did anything wrong persay, just that the fresh FFOF kept them from their full potential was all.

Anyways, Merry Christmas! I'll be away till after, Cat is off for the holiday so its fam time with him and the fur babies till he goes back to work. Hope you have a really great one brother! :)

:peace:

FFOF is commonly recognized as being a relatively hot soil
It can be cut with perlite easily enough too.

...but, then again, I used it unadulterated with great success.

I don't mean to attack but ffof is good stuff...... These people who bad mouth it are people who can't be wrong and have to blame something..... New guys that water daily then blame the soil...... People who have never grown in it that repeat what the new guy says

If you can't grow because ffof is too "hot" you need to give up....

Yeah I've grown in ffof with success before no problem. But these plants are a lot bigger and I was using bottled nutes before and now I do light organic feeding but obviously wasn't enough to keep up with the plants.

I was taught that ffof will get you through veg and partially through flowering depending on size, this dude has been growing for 30+ years.

Size for sure...... A good size plant will suck a pot of ocean forest dry in a week

I'm thinking youre in little pots?....like a gallon?.....that would be difficult in the best amended soil trying to make it w just tea

In defense of the "too hot" crowd tho........ I have seen ocean forest wear like iron w some bs sativas

The DOG that got it the worse was in the biggest pot, 10g smart pot.

My sativa did the best and was in a 5g smart pot.

The other 4 got mediumish damage and we're in 1g smart pots.
