airstones

how does everyone keep there airstones anchored to the bottom of the container? i use fish tank pebbles in a plastic bag. it holds the air stone under it so the most air gets to all the roots.

I have never had a problem with my airstone floating....Im using a 10 gal. res with 4-5gal of water in it.... and its always just laid flat against the bottom.

I was useing an 18 gal. tote and I wanted an airstone under each plant site so I used some pvc pipe 1/2",Ts and elbows to make a rectangle and under the plant site I put a T then I fished my air line through it connected the stones and that was it. It worked great just dont glue anything or you wont be able to get your air line back out and wont be able to clean it very well either if you glue it. peace and grow on

im using 2. 5 gal buckets with 3. 3" net pots each lid. i run the air tubing through the lid and into the bucket down to the airstone. if i dont use the bags with gravel in them the stones just float. they still oxygenate the water pretty good but its better with the gravel and bags. wat kind of air stones does everyone use. im using the petco 4 pack special. gets the job done but idk if there are better ones. i dont feel like spending a bunch of money to find out wat works better then those.

What kinds of stones are you using? Some can be purchased weighted. We tied a couple of Fishing Weights around the air line closest to the bubbler...seemed to work pretty good!
What kind of Bubblers do you think are the best?? We are having trouble with ours constantly clogging up!!

Anyway good luck and hoped my tiny opinion helped>

I have hot-glued things to the stones themselves, such as fishing sinkers and glass marbles. I like the idea of using gravel bags. For buying airstones, I like the cheap 12 inch stones from my local pet store. Even tho the kind at walmart seem to be better quality, they always fall apart on me pretty quickly. I have also tried the 2ft and 4ft flex airtubes and they are pure crap. I personally like making my own. I use a 3/4 or 1/2 inch air line, cut 4-12 inches of length, block one end by glueing a glass marble or sinker into it, and then cutting many many slits into it with a razor knife. I have a bunch of attachment pieces I collected from 1inch walmart stones that fell apart, I glue them on the other end and I have a pretty good air stone. Hot glue does not effect my nutrient solution, but it will fall apart and need re-glued after 3 or 4 months. Also, one of my best purchases was a small air compressor that moves 950gph. Only cost me $35 and it will oxygenate 8 6gal tubs no problem.
