air hoods a must at this point?!?

OK, I'm setting up a 3-4000 watt room, havent decided, I just dedicated a breaker to it and ran electric, I have lights, only two weeks or so to figure this out. Ladies are in dome.

I'm new to this size/scale room.

Its going to be rather warm in there I imagine, I have every option at my fingertips, ac, co2, inlines, all on hand!

I don't have air cooled hoods! I began punching numbers and got BTUs and etc... Then became frustrated, so here I am,

do I need air cooled hoods or can I just move a sufficient amount of air through the room? also I was thinking I could just seal it up add co2 n AC.

I'm trying to make this room as versitle as possible until I know what I like, I can get hoods for 20_30 each on eBay, I have the cash, just a titewad atm lol

I was going to pull air from floor ducting using duct fitting and exhaust through fitting I've permanently drywalled into ceiling lol (I post a pic)

anybody can post some experience or information below I would appreciate it.

Here's what we got:

10x10x8 room

2 6" inline fans

5 1000 watt HP's

10000 btu ac

50 lbs co2 tank

No, I have a co2 tank and ac on hand, not using them, unless forced too. Its older equipment from past ventures...

for 10 by 10 room I was going to chrissy 02 tank every 3 weeks in their 150 pounds easy and I am not looking forward to holly that up and down several flights of stairs lol, my portable AC is working well but I have several window AC's.

like I said I have a lot of options, I've just never done anything on this scale before, I have 5600 watts that I can use, but I think optimal would be 3000_4000 for 100sqft.

I just imagine it'll be 100 degrees in the, 90 with fans going, so I'm assuming those are my only two choices at this point either get air cooled hoods or revert back to AC and co2. cuz I don't like the extra energy costs from AC, lol, I can't believe I say that but I'll run 5 or 6 lights lol

IF you use CO2 u can run the room warmer then normal. like 80-90 ambient. Just a thought. Inline cooled hoods like a cooltube will probably save you money in the long run though, depending on how much that A/C runs.

Thus far I've found brand new wingtubes for $40 each and normal hood reflectors used for $40 each, what's going to be the main difference? Footprint?

ur going to need about 3,000 btus of cooling per 1000W hps with air cooled hood if u seal room. 10000 btu AC will likely only keep up with 3 lights in summer probably can do 4 in the winter.

and yes the footprint of reflectors can vary widely. i like using 4 big reflectors (Raptor) with 1000w HPS in each for a 10x10.
Smaller reflectors focus more light straight down increasing penetration but reducing coverage area.

that's what I figured I live in a very cold climate, below zero today, there's only one month out of the year it's really even hot, and I prefer more resilient strains skunks and whites...

Honestly, I think 3000 was gonna be my optimal point in anyways, I think 4_5000 is too much, my gpw will likely fall off. Who knows, but that's the best advice I've gotten so far as far as real numbers I guess all I can do is let the equipment run through a whole day this weekend and monitor my temps. Air temps doesn't really scare me, its the resi temps! That shit worries me...

Yes get air cooled goods it will help tremendously. What size is your ac is a determining factor. In summer it's 100+ degrees here and a 12k but ac struggles to keep room under 85 esp if my co2 burner is running.

how many watts in side of how many square feet are you running with those kind of numbers?

those numbers are very close to my guesstimation

If you want to do it proper, and easy, then fuck the AC hoods and get a proper AC and co2.

AC hoods are a pain in the ass. I'm not hating..ok, maybe I am. I have used A LOT of them. They get dirty quickly even with filters, the fans are loud, and they ALL leak.

You need 4k Btu of aircon for each 1,000.

So a 24,000 btu mini split would be really nice and you could run 6k of bulbs.

Splots are the bomb!! Quiet,effecient, precise.

I'm going to get a huge ac this summer when I move, I'll also be upgrading many other things, in between grows...

But for now I need an easy solution, I ran 3600 watts last night for two hours, the temp stayed at 83 without reflectors, I'm going to get them anyways, I can get 4 for $100 shipped to me.

definitely sounds like it would help and its a cheap solution for the time being.

I would love to go sealed with AC and co2 but I hate transporting and tanks every two weeks

Yeah. Tanks suck dick. Burner is the way to go for sure.
.and BTW..max temps even with co2 should never get above 84-85 at the plants. You will get big time stretch at night

I run 2 x 1000 air cooled + 2 440 LED Solar storms and 6000 btu a/c is just enough to cool that during winter. Think you will need more a/c with 4 1000s...

I'm going to have to finish out these girls with the hoods, I'm moving this summer and getting an ac & light mover.

it's going to be so nice to have an entire basement with drains in the floor, ac, breaker box right there with a sink, I can't wait!

For now, if the hoods don't work I'll have to kick on the AC as silly as it sounds, I have tons of frozen water bottles, in case resi gets near 70.

I made the mistake of upgrading my lights, without getting a water chiller or AC first. PFF

I think I'll be good though, by the time I harvest, temps will be in 60_70s outside,

Thats funny. I'm running 3k open reflectors and 4k in AC hoods in a basement without AC and my temps are 76. It's all about efficient system design.
