After the cure

Hello all!

Im sorry if this has been stated over and over but I looked on a lot of curing posts and couldnt find an answer >.<

I plan on boiling my roots and leaving the plant for three days under lights before trimming and then drying. Im going to dry them slowly till the stems a bit bendy, then ill jar and keep at 62% humidity.

If I understand things right, the 62% humidity allows the cure 'reaction' to happen. I have heard of people jarring this way for years, one of the sticky posts even mentioned it.

When you go to smoke the buds, do you keep it at the 62% humidity? Like pull it right from the jar? Or do you dry them out real dry and then use?

Hoping for a smooth smoke, and it would be nice to see a white ash ;) im convinced it can be achieved!

Thanks for any help here guys. I have a hydrometer and some bodeva packs coming soon to help me get this done right!

This will be my first.time using the boveda 62 packs. Most of what I have read is people cure without them and use it more for long term storage. 62 is a little on the wet side from what I have been reading. Most that use them would like to see 55-58.

Thanks :) ill keep the cure going at 62 for a while and then ill drop it down to the 50s for longterm storage. I would *hate* to go through a full grow and cure only to have moldy bud months down the line. :<

I think the general rule of thumb is that the cure zone is between 55 and 70 RH. Above 70 and you will mold. Below 55 and the cure is done and cannot be restarted. 62 RH is middle of the road. Regarding smoking a bud at 62%, it will still smoke but would be better if it was a little drier. Just how dry...it's all personal preference.

Thanks for that Hot Diggity Sog! Im still new to higher quality marijuana, but im trying my best to make this Strawberry Cough come out right. The weights great so far, nowhere near the big colas I see on this sight, but enough to weigh down every branch there was lol. Have a ton of blue yarn holding this girl up :bigjoint:

My Hydrometer is out for delivery today and I boiled yesterday, so I figure around three to five days and ill commence the harvest! Ill drop it to the 62% and keep it for a couple weeks. Then ill take samples and dry them till I find a sweet spot that I like. I keep forgetting that a lot of this is personal pref when I ask my questions.

Appreciate all the help everyone! Ill let you know how things turn out.

Narrow it down to 60-65% for cure.

AFTER the cure, you smoke it! For me, drying takes 2 weeks. Then after curing sealed for two more weeks, buds are at their highest potency.
