Note to self. Next time transplant earlier and maybe start in a mini hempy with finer/crushed up perlite for a softer transplant.
Just an FYI. Perlite dust is dangerous to inhale. So don't go crushing it up and breathing the cloud that comes out of it. If you are going to work with perlite by itself, esp if it needs some crushing, try to do it with it being wet, and maybe keep a spray bottle handy to knock any dust out of the air. Best done outside and even better with a mask if possible.
Be careful.

This was 8/1/14. One took off quicker than the other.

Here they are today. 10/6/14 AKRs. Nothing real exciting. These are my first two full grows in the Hempys. I have to adjust my nutes but other than that, I will probably stay away from dirt for a while. I'm following this schedule 100% but only using the first three nutes. I have the Liquid Koolbloom and may use it the last week and a half or so. Not sure yet.

Thanks. I have never counted the days. Best guess would be 10 weeks. One of these will be finished a couple weeks before the other, but started at the same time. So I go by the look of the buds.

What kind of yield difference between soil you noticing? Whyd you choose hempy (aside from other soilless/hydro)and why hempy over soil?
Just curious :)

I was looking for something different than dirt. Hempy just seems very simple. I like the fact that you know exactly what the plant is eating and it's just plain clean. Got a big ass bag of perlite for about $20. Easy to adjust nutes if needed. I never grow more than 3 plants (that's why I went with simple Hempys) under the 400 so this perlite will last me probably a year.

Still need to make a drain system. For now I'm just putting the 2.5 gallon pots into a plastic tub and feeding them with a gallon of nuted water. When it stops coming out the hole at the bottom I put them back under the light.

I'm not seeing a huge difference in bud production yet. It's still early. They do smell really good and I am noticing a lot more popcorns that are getting hard and frosty.

Keep in mind - These two are the first full grows with the Hempys.

Love this idea. I also only usually grow 2-3 plants, I would grow less if I thought I could, but I need medicine daily. I just switched from soil to pure cocoa and I am just astonished. I see no point in going back to soil. Not that I hate soil now, but indoors, hauling dirt and disposing of it is more cumbersome than I thought. Now that the magic of growing has subsided a bit and things become routine I just want to maintain as easily as possible.

My only issues have been that the plants can get unsteady if they stretch early before the roots have filled the pot due to the medium being looser. I ran 3 plants on nothing but cocoa and bottled water and they were absolutely fine. I just wanted a baseline to go by, now I'm adding nutes during flower. Cocoa bricks are like 5 bucks. I was dropping like 50 bucks on light warrior+ffof. not hating, but it's not needed imo. Not for my small grow anyway.

This is in a 1 gallon. If I had more Tmist I would hit one of these buds too. I always have a leaf problem of some sort. Maybe I should check the PH one day.

I think this is the top of the right side.

Not a lot. Nothing special here but it smells really good. "Why did I post this you ask?" Don't ask because I have no idea.

Was thinking about trying vert soon. Looks like you just take everything off your light and hang it vert. Bare bulb. Need to do some more reading. I'm thinking 6-8 autos with say 4 nice buds on each trained so they are all in a line getting max light. Cut everything else off. We'll see.... The nice thing about making your own seeds is you can play around a bit.

I cut the "freak" AKR at the base. It's been hanging for about 4-5 days. 65 degrees 50% hum. Using nature to my advantage right now. Not done yet but vapes nice.

I let this plant go a little longer than usual. It paid off. 2-3 draws on this popcorn and Capowww.

Then this stupid looking AKR in a milk carton. I kinda forgot about it. Just watered the thing. It has 3 buds on top. Dunno - I didn't do it.

And I also have this single bud plant going. Dunno - I didn't do anything to this one either. WTF is going on here? It's like the seeds were exposed to nuclear radiation. :o Of course I cut out the half dead fan leaves for the pic. :hump:

I don't care what it looks like really. It all gets me medicated. :eyesmoke:

Happy growing :weed:
