A buddy and I were going to start an aerogarden grow but are stuck on a couple things. First we dont have the space that would be preferred to do this and it seems like the only way to get uninterrupted light would be to get a grow bow. What would you recommend on that? Or even another way to do it without the box. Second thing is we won't be able to afford any new lights. How effective are the stock lights? Will it get us through with an autoflowering dwarf?

it will, but you probably wont be able to produce that much, maybe with one plant, you have no way on constructing a grow cab

Yea man a tent would be good, but you are gonna need more CFL's, just grow on plant, and put a bunch of lights on her, there cheap, growing is going to cost somthing

what would be a better choice, a box to grow in and use stock aerogarden lights? or no box but better lighting?

Another thought, would an attic work as a grow place? i have a dehumidifior that can help with that. Ive read attics are bad for grows, any input?
you dont even have cardboard or something, anything around the house
I would be able to get a cardboard box but how effective is that? But I just realized I can use my attic which I would be able to get solid dark and light periods. Would an attic be a good place?

my current set up is cardboard, lined with white paper, inside my plywood closet

to the right is the side of the cardboard box, the lights are fixed to a peice of cardboard as well, my lights are on, but i'll try and get the whole set up

Very good AG starter guide, I have the classic 7 cell and started experimenting. Found out that the 24hr feature was needed but the figure 8 cord worked after the fact! BTW the 24" light fixture also came into play but the herb grew "Like a Weed" and found space was limited.
Later on I used it for germinating and cloning and invested in a couple of EarthBoxes http://www.earthbox.com/ and went to dirt farming in the spare room. Also got me a Stealth Hydro DWC http://www.stealthhydroponics.com/product.php?xProd=48&xSec=61 but struggled keeping the Ph down. Checked Ph daily after adding their Ph Down powder and still could not figure what I was doing wrong so retired it and focused on indoor dirt under $17 ea 150 watt CFL and crops are small but enough for personnal use!

If I had my way and the land, I would go the Emerald Triangle way http://mendonews.wordpress.com/2009/02/01/emerald-triangle-marijuana-capital-usa/ and be a happy retired lover of the "Mighty Herb"

Peace Out my fellow growers!

an attic is an okay place, watch for mold, spiders, and temperature because it's the first thing the sun touches.

I'm really interested in getting one of these systems... Just... what do I do?
-Germinate seeds
-put in sponge.
-use the instruction guide on how to work the AG and it basically does everything automatically for you?
I would just want it for the Aero/Hydro aspect, I'll take care of lighting, temperature....
-put certain amount of nutes(how much exactly for each plant? just depends? how often? Is that automatic as well?)

What's the BIG benefit of using this system over just organic soil and organic nutes? is it going to shave off a month of grow time? bigger yield per plant?

thinking of having mothers, but would it be a good idea to have the mothers in the AG system? 'Since I wouldn't be able to really transplant them after that... and if I did, could I clone into soil??? that'd ruin the whole purpose of having an AG system, right? mother in soil, then clone in the AG system???

Thanks!

Hydroponics produce faster and more vigorous growth. It won't reduce time by a month, more like a week.

As for nutes, you should follow the recommended feeding schedule for that brand of nutes. Nutes are not automatic. As for organics, I personally don't see any difference between that and mineral. First of all, organic nutrients contain the same minerals as inorganic, they just require microbes to break down the organic material into usable nutrients for the plant.

The best setup for the aerogarden would be as a small scale cloner. Just have a mother, take cuttings, root in the AG, transfer to bigger system and your good to go.

If you're looking for a bigger hydro system than the AG, check out stealthhydro.com. These systems are great for producing huge yields.

Check this grow out....

well i got myself a cabinet- using an old toy box on its side, its like 4 feet tall and fits the AG perfectly. I got some rockwool cubes and cut them with a razor into the size that fits them circularly. put 3 purple haze seeds into each 3 corresponding pods and slipped em into the AG on lettuce greens setting about 16 hours ago....well see how it goes

when using a green light for night-time work, does it have to be a specific type/style, or will any simple green-colored bulb work?

srry i say that in your thread, but totally for got, what would you need to be working on when the lights are off?
