Aero Cloning

I'm wondering what the most effective cycle time is when dealing with new clones that have either no roots or maybe just the little tips of some roots.

i'm thinking something as extreme as 1 minute on and 1 hour off may be appropriate?

Seedlings seemed to respond well to 1 minute on 3 minutes off but they come with roots from the beginning.

Edit: assume I'm using jiffy pellets here when you are considering water retention

I use an aerocloner,

bare stem ( no net pot or rapid rooter )
I've been getting some rot in a similar setup, the only difference is i have them in jiffy pellets rather than bare stem. is it possible that the jiffy pellets retain too much moisture and are causing rot?

And thanks for coming to the thread.

Yes the jiffy is holding too much water. Bare stem is best with the areocloner. Pump on 24/7.

Thats really good advice. I have tried one of each actually and so far neither are working 6 days in :(

Some of the stems are sort of "hollow" do you think that could be a problem?
I've noticed this seems to happen more with clones taken from hydro plants.

I have my home made cloner set up at 30 min on 30 min off it produced some amazing results so I made another lol. When I did mine I did not score the stems.

Also when I first did mine I didn't see a damn thing the first week but at week 3 it was nuts just be patient :)

To all u people out there using tap water.. what is your PPMs in your tap like? mines in the high 400's in not 5 somethin so I'm not sure if I should be using it at this high a rating... or maybe its perfect?

pump on 24/7
no dome
bare stem ( no net pot or rapid rooter )
tap water, non PH'ed
T5 @ 18"
Seconded. I've done it exactly this way (except I use two small CFLs instead of T5) for the two years I've been growing indoor, and my success rate is very, very good.
