Advice on planning 1st indoor grow

Hey guys, I've always wanted to homegrow and I came upon this site a few nights ago and started reading threads. What i've read in the past couple nights is all the exprience I have but am picking it up...Anyway space is limited but Im thinking about converting a few draws in one of my desks to a grow box...The dimensions of the grow box would be 20.5in x 12in x 27in (LxWxH)...I definately plan on running an intake and exhaust fan for ventalation considering its such a small area....My questions are is this too small of an area to grow? Im only looking to grow a few plants for personal use...Also what lighting set-up would be best for this size space? CFLs? I've read that there are certain strains you can get that grow lower than others considering i only have 27 inches of height to work with.

you might squeeze some lowryder in there but cfl is a must with no head room

i would also recomend lowrider,top44 there are a few other small auto flowering plant and cfl in that space is a must read loads of book on how to grow

Alright sounds good thanks guys, how many cfl bulbs and what wattage bulbs would be good for an area like this for growing 2-3 plants?
