Advice on a couple issues

Hi everybody, I was hoping y'all could give a little advice on my grow. I been getting burn at the tips of my leaves and white spots on some of them also. I thought it was from nute burn so I lowered the ppm from around 550 to 450. Right move or not? What should my ppm be for plants this size? My water starts out around 100. I also noticed that some of the older leaves are starting to develop a yellowing hue to them and was wondering if anybody can tell me why? Also, I did a reservoir change yesterday and all my roots looked healthy and white at the time, when I went back today to check my PH, the roots looked brownish. What should I do? Is this root rot? If it is how do I prevent it and can my current grow be saved?

I grow in DWC bubble buckets under a 600 watt 6 spectrum LED
using GH nutes. My res temps are usually around 75 degrees, humidity
about 20% humidity and temps between 65 and 80 depending on the time of day.
I let my PH fluctuate between 5.4 to 6.0

Any advice you can give will help, my biggest worry is the brownish roots but this just happened since yesterday so I'm hoping I can still remedy whatever caused it. Thanks guys bongsmilie

Probably because 10s of people have asked the same question many times, you probably can find your answer in the "search" button. Help in this forum is getting harder and harder to find, unless you want help to peddle tweed on the street corner after your grows, then the thugs will come out and help. We have enough lazy people who just want to start a thread that has been asked 100 of times, if you must leave then leave I guess kind of over dramatic I think but whatever.

I would lower the ppm to half and wait couple weeks to see what happens, I bet you are still over feeding them at that stage. My 4 week veg cycle ends at 600ppm, starts in low 100s.
DWC always less means more, always start lower then you possibly think it would work and go from there. You be surprised how much faster, stronger and healthier if you do not over feed the plants.

Shroomfarmer: I wish that there was an easier way, but if you’re as new to this as I think you are I suggest the following:
1. Read: SeeMoreBud’s book, “MARIJUANA BUDS FOR LESS GROW 8 OZ. OF BUDS FOR LESS THAN $100.”
2. Read: Jorge Cervantes’s book, “MARIJUANA HORTICULTURE THE INDOOR/OUTDOOR MEDICAL GROWER’S BIBLE.”
3. Read: Ed Rosenthal’s, “MARIJUANA GROWER’S HANDBOOK.”
4. You’ll want to read: Mc Carthy’s book, “GROWING MARIJUANA.”
5. You’ll also want to subscribe to, “HIGH TIMES,” magazine. Each issue is chocked full of useful information. .” All these resources are very well written, well illustrated and packed with information that will answer most of your questions before you know to ask them. This will save you and your plants a lot of anxiety. I hope this helps. HSA

hey shroom you have a classiic case of root rot as of now. That would be my first issue to solve. what kind of bucket you using it looks white-ish mayb get that light proofed. where is your water level at under the net pot, looks like theres not much root growth for that size on top prolly why they where yellowing, or your ppm''d up too quickly and she went on lockout.. what is the temp of the water? needs to stay cool.. These are all things that can promote root rot, or the common bacteria there is a tea on here if you search that add beneficial benes.. I've also used h202, another question where is your water coming from?

Make sure your nutrient solution is not overheating. That is quick death to hydro. The black lids collect lots of heat fyi. Other than that keep it clean, use microbes, enzymes, and weekly res changes and all will go well. don't worry about those roots they should be fine.

Light colored leaves except in middle are signs of low nutes. Also, you roots got slime. Try foliar feeding around 700 strength till you start getting more roots.

Thanks for your help guys, I did what you said BuddahCheese and it seemed to help. Sorry about being kinda dickish in my second post, guess I was just being impatient plus I was worried about my plants. The brownish roots cleared up their own, maybe it was related to my overfeediing them? This is my first real hydro grow and I think I'm starting to get the hang of it. I'm just growing bagseed right now until I get it down then I'll spend the money for the good seeds. Today is day 35 of veg and I'm switching them over to 12/12 today. I was going to do it at day 30 but I was being lazy :-? I've still got some issues with my lower fan leaves turning brown on their edges and dying but It's not happening nearly as fast as it was before. I'm in awe of your grow skills BigBuddahCheese and I hope to one day raise girls as pretty as yours, also once I'm out of GH nutes I'm gonna try Dynagrow after hearing you rave about it. Anywho, I snapped a few picks before kicking the light off and thought I'd post them, I would love constructive criticism and advice from anybody quialified to give it so please post away. Thanks again guys, heres the day 35 pics, sorry the pic quality kinda sucks, I was in a hurry. :weed:

What are you using in the water for the roots.. get some Aquashield and thank me later. It's cheap and works wonders.
Just plain city water and nutes, ph is usually high and either stays steady or drifts up slightly so ph down also but that's it. I've read nothing but good things on here about aquashield so I'll definitely try to pick some of that up as well :joint:

Woah, that seems a little low. I soak rockwool in 150ppm 1-5-4 solution for the clones, then once the roots pop they go into a bucket at 350-400ppm and four different strains ranging from indica to almost pure sativa loved it... I max out around 600-700ppm in flower.

DWC always less means more, always start lower then you possibly think it would work and go from there. You be surprised how much faster, stronger and healthier if you do not over feed the plants.
Absolutely...

Omg  I really do think I might just break down and cry. Both my plants are starting to show preflowers and they're both looking very male! I'm still going to let them go for another week or so to be absolutely sure but what a tremendous disappointment. I think I'll go contemplate on what I've done to make god hate me while I wait....

buddah is right on the aquashield. I have a bubble bucket test running. just one cutting since im much more familiar with nft and flood. Been using 29% h202 as a preventative and still getting some gunk and noticed slow root growth. changed res out and used some aquashield i had laying around in place of h202 and overnight had the most robust root growth ive seen yet.
