Advice for new patient

So my buddy of over 30 years who never used cannabis recreationally, has decided to try it to treat depression and other issues. His doctor is willing to sign, but here's the dilemma...does he sign up under the mmpr and register with an LP, or does he wait until August? Will it matter? He wants to grow when that takes effect, but he travels throughout Canada for work, so want's to avoid any issues. My advice was to get his doctor to sign the forms, and then continue what he's doing and avoid the LP's. My theory is signed papers from a doctor should get him through a domestic airport.
Thoughts...?

For the sake of less hassle at the airport, I would go to the dark side and sign up with a LP just to get the packaging. Signed papers from a Doc might not cut it with security.
Yeah I thought about that, but then wondered how far airport security will go once they've seen a doctor's note? I guess it would depend on the person asking the questions, but he could protest that it's harassment and discrimination, and they might just let it slide. I was just trying to steer him clear of the LP's

tell him to keep his name off of anything..not worry about the law as he is treating an illness.
Dont register! Stay the course until August...grow if he wants in the mean time. No one will care.

oh and buy i where ever he needs it when he gets there. Not many places can you NOT buy MMJ

Same here I have flown out of Edmonton-Ottawa and Toronto no problems but I too have a pink slip. Don't know how it works with just a doctors note it should not matter but who knows with anything Govt. run.

Better sooner than later, if it's for medical reasons.

Sorry -- he is better off to sign up with an LP, get his paperwork, card and a container with a label showing his prescription. Then he can fill the container up with whatever he wants, flash his card at the rent-a-cops at the airport and sail on through.

There is no reason to make his life miserable and start having arguments with minimum wage wannabes about whether or not a doctor's note is sufficient. Right now the rules are very clear. It won't kill him to use them to his advantage.

There is absolutely nothing stopping him from signing up with and LP and then growing his own when the time is right.

WHY? To fucking sell out so they can claim more patients? STOP IT. When you buy from the LPs or even sign up with them, you are helping seal your own fate.
