Well as the title states I am new to breeding and have a sin city quad jack male about to cross with this lovely sky walker kush from alphakronic. The plan is to just do a open pollination what's the length of time the seeds need to become viable?

For seeds to mature, it is critical that the flowers be about 3 weeks into flower, and they are showing good white pistils from the small buds. IF you do not pollen at this precise time, your seeds will turn out green and immature.... so save the pollen and make sure you hit the girl @ 3 weeks into flower for your seed run. Thx

It is very possible to pollinate just individual branches; that's what I do.

I grow my male plants in my female flower room until they look like they're about a week away from opening up. I live in a small apartment, so I then take the males and put them near a windowsill to finish off. When they are ready to burst open, I forcefully squeeze out the pollen onto a plate, then mix it with 1/4 pollen to 3/4 flour, put the mixture into a sealable jar (35mm film canisters). I then put that into a fireproof safe with my seeds underneath my bed.

I've proven out this method by pollinating with months-old pollen (Blueberry). The efficacy is good. I'd recommend storing in the freezer for long-term though.

If you look at my 'seed making' sig thread, you'll see I just recently harvested a bunch of home-made seeds by pollinating a single branch of an Afghani #1 plant with said Blueberry pollen, and the entire rest of the Afghani plant remained sinsemilla.

False, seeds will mature if at any point pollen comes in contact with aplants pistil (yes even preflowers can form seed)

youll need about 3-5 weeks for them to mature from the date of pollination, however make sure you wait till theyve been in flower for about 3-4 weeks that way youve got a ton of viable pistils as well as a bunch of pollen from your male donor ready to go. keep your male in a seperate room and collect his pollen by tapping the base of the stem repeatedly to knock off the pollen into a bag you have put around the bulk of his flowers. you can cut the pollen with flour to make it go further but its unnecessary, use a paintbrush to or qtip to dab the pistils on the branch your attempting to pollinate taking extra care not to knock pollen loose and pollinate parts you want sensi. then just let her grow another 5 weeks, harvest and youve got F1 seeds of your cross :)
oh and toss the pollen in the frige ( no light or moisture) if you want to keep it viable.

Thats a pretty risky strategy bro, ever have an early male blow balls on you in the first week? ive seen it.
I use an old cabinet box thingy that ive lined with panda film and dropped a double cfl extension thru the top to keep my males isolated without expending too many resources on them.

Now now people I'm just looking forward to getting a new batch I don't believe there's really no wrong way as long as we all get the results were looking for
