advanced nutrients vs. fox farm

True, I'm a little anxious about the idea of having to dial in my grow again.
What is that supposed to mean? It suggests you need to research and get a handle on plant nutrition and that you have no clue when it comes to horticulture. Spend about 30 minutes at this site and you will be light years ahead of a noob who has to rely on someone else to tell him what he needs to do or what he should apply to his plants.

You need to learn to read your plants, not hype on a box of snake oil.

The first time I stepped into a hydroponics store was about 7 weeks ago. 70% of the stock was crazy looking liquid solutions. My head spun around and around and nearly came off. I was used to fertilizers called bone meal and blood meal (a good cover crop gives you all the nitrogen you need). Bat guano was exotic for me when cows, horse and chickens produce more shit then I know what to do with. I didn't have to read forums, books or articles to know which nutrients to pick up on that faithful day. My GUTS told me what was scientific and what what was being peddled to HIGHschoolers.

The only fertilizer brand I recognized was the one I picked up. The only fertilizer brand that had a full listing of the minimum amounts of macro and micro nutrients was the one i picked up. It just happened that the one i picked up was half, if not a quarter, as expensive as "cotton candy" or "Big Bud". The fertilizer I picked up is called Dyna Gro and it is used in green houses around the world.

well, do you guys think AN Voodoo Juice is worth it? Or where can you find a similar product which isn't as expensive?

IMHHO anything is better than AN anything: A "friend" spent $600 on AN and his stuff wasn't near as good as a bagseed plant I grew knowing nothing and almost killing it several times... made him so angry he threw the whole bunch of it out and literally shot it with a shotgun...he's been growing 10 years and is switching back to what he was using before: Dyna gro and cal mag plus... and he's a hydro nut with 4 1000 watters co2 the works... and really wealthy so the money did not even matter...That is my experience for what it is worth... But if it makes you happy then make you happy...that's all that matters really...

Well I've seen what Voodoo Juice does to roots in hydro and it's pretty crazy, and seems to have an effect in soil as well. I don't care much for the other products in the line.

Anytime someone spends $600 on nutrients, they should realize, hey wait a minute, "Im getting taken for a fool right now!" At least he wised up later though.

I've been recommending Dyna Gro for years.

I use House and Garden Root Excelurator in small doses during seedling, cloning and veg phases. When I pot and repot I put a liberal amount of mycorrhiza powder around the root ball, which i get at a nursery down the street. The powder cost about $10 a pound and lasts an entire grow for me (x6, 5 gallon pots).

This is what actually promotes root growth:

Guys, about 2 weeks ago I transplanted 2 seedlings from 20 oz cups to 3 gallon pots into a hand tossed custom soil blend. Yes, an UB "Special" mix consisting of this and that with a toss over the left shoulder for luck. Today's inspection revealed their roots are now at the drainholes. They are 2' tall or better requiring at least 2 quarts of water every day. This is nothing more than a normal process with no special amendments, no bullshit products. To top that off both are showing female (outdoor grown) having alternate phytolaxxy double main colas forming during the summer solstice....... which is pretty unusual, but has happened before on a previous outdoor grow. They are one of my backcrosses of Cinderella 99.

Advanced Nutrients is no more good because it's expensive than it is bad because it's expensive.

The only question that makes sense to me is to ask whether their idea of using all the best ingredients makes the nutrients enough better to justify the cost.

Everyone ought to be free to answer that however they see fit without being judged. My garden tells me that it's worth the money. It doesn't make me a rube, or gullible or whatever other insult someone wants to toss out because I have a different opinion than they do and they feel threatened by that.

I get it, I really do. People want to believe that their opinions are correct, unassailably so. If someone disagrees with them in one way they can see it as a threat to their entire way of thinking.

It's possible for people to have different opinions on something like this without either of them being stupid. (It's even possible for it to happen without either of them calling the other one stupid, but that's much less common.)

Define "best ingredients". This is about plant nutrition, AN is into hocus pocus. 16 essential elements. There are no opinions, only facts relating to nutrition.

Well I am obviously not as smart as all you real horticulturist, I have no interest in mixing my own stew. So I am happy to pay the little extra for the AN products...The cost of using the AN products for my grow is almost $400.00. After all expenses including electric which cost me about $350.00 per month I am getting around 1200-1400 dried grams of bud every 9 weeks and that's 2 weeks of cure time... I am profiting almost $10,000 every 2 months from 2 1000's....The cost of the "Expensive" nute for me is negligible, especially since they work perfect every time.... All I can say is advanced Nutrients fully supports my Deep sea fishing habit....PEACE

Sorry to say I can smell the bullshit. Your only pulling about a 1/2 gram per watt anyways... don't you ever wonder why?

What have your results been using other nutrients? I have seen the side by side comparrison between AN and a few other nutrient companies, and for the price its not anything special. Botanicare and GH have both outperformed AN.... both in quality and yields. Shit, even comparing AN to just using strait water, AN didn't contribute to a substantial increase in yield, and only a slightly marked increase in potency, did nothing for smell or taste at all.

As long as your happy though, ;)

cinderella 99 is princess and princess is jack herer phenom so ur just doing jack lol anyways ya u can can get huge roots with cow shit and bat guano vermiculite perlite and sea shells crushed together and mixed and turned and some dolomite but why not get pro mix add bit of perlite and water with house and garden root excel or voodoo juice wich is not as good and get the biggest roots ever. the time it takes for me to mix the dirt and prepare it and buy all the ingredients is too long. my time is worth money so i rather spend 100 and get 10 times the use. all you have to do is use hose and garden or voodo or any of the root stimulator products at half strength and they are still huge so ya there alot of people who love to do their dirt and use npk that they mix themselves fro pre bought powder ferts but alot of doods dont know shit about growing that way and it takes too much time to do 100 pots that way not to mention its probably more expensive, sure the pot might taste better turns nice and rainboweee at the end but u can achive the same by adding supplements. cinderella is ok but her cousin ak 99 mmhmmmmm now thats a strain.
