**addicted to codein**

hi, i had a bike accident in 02 and a car crash in 07, been on codein for 7yrs and its spyraling out of control.

i started on the recommended dose wich was 2 x 30mg as needed, wich then was like twicw a day, that was ok as that was well in the safe range!!

as time went on and pain got worse i started taking more and more until finaly i built up a tolarency to the codein, sadly i am now taing 4 x 30mg 4 sometimes 5 times a day!!!!
thats 120mg 4times a day.

ive tried just stopping them completely and fuck i was a wreck and in a real bad way, i had stomach cramps behond believe, my shite was like water, my legs felt like they had been hit with sledge hammers, massive headaches, feeling sick, insomnia.

what im trying to get at here is i have a little boy and value my life so i wanna come off these evil tablets, i just dont know how im gunna cope with the pain with my knee and back and i also dont know how to come off them safely and succesfully.

does any1 have simular or the same problem???? any1 else addicted to codein??

thanx guys n girls, some input would be amazing, am i alone or i am not?

:peace::-|:peace:

I don't have any personal experience but I had a friend who was addicted to those shits. He use to take them during lunch and come the next class he was blitzed. He let some chick smack the shit out of him one day and he claimed not to feel a thing. That's one crazy drug lol, I hope you get better, good luck

thankyou, i would love to hear some experiences if there is any1 out there with the same addiction!!!

p.s i dont take them for a high, i smoke weed for that. cheers

By the way, I've been on codein through large parts of my life. First due to neurological issues, now back pain. I RARELY exceed the dosage, but I know when I forget to refill how bad I feel so I can relate.

You want to look for a strain @ or as close to 100% indica as you can find they help me with bad back pain. Don't I repeat do not let anyone put you on methadone it's worse then anything you could ever take.

I was in a motorcycle wreck @ 50MPH a week ago and they gave me a scrip for Vicodin... I recall somebody asking me if I wanted some morphene, turned that down too

I didn't even think about going to pharmacy to pick that shit up because I hear so many bad things about painkillers

Sorry your going through that shit though man, at least you have the skills and the means to grow some good ass medicine - that puts you a board higher than all the other people addicted

As for the physical withdraw, I would recommend calling a nice rehab, or even setting up a meeting to discuss the options...

I'm sure they've dealt with codein addictions before and they probably have some shit to combat the effects, or at least they could give you some tips

Remember, nobody would force you to enter and sitting down and discussing the options couldn't hurt...

And as far as your kid goes, a week or two away wouldn't be so bad when you come back clean for a long time ;)

i had methadone in hospital as the morphine did nothing the pain was so severe, that was yrs ago now at the time of the bike smash, i know a lot about it and its evil same as all opioids, thanx

I broke some bones highsiding off one of my sportbikes dragging knee back in 06 and they gave me vicodin, and plenty of it. To be honest, I'm still not back to 100%. I can crack my shoulders, elbows, and wrists now. WTF? At first is was no big deal, just a nice numb sort of buzz to kill the pain. Later, it became a bit of a habit. I realized that not only did I have to take more pills than at first, but they continued to do less and less for pain. Finally, I just decided not to call for any more refills, and got into natural healing remedies, primarily antioxidants. Wheat grass, pomegranate juice, blueberries, fulvic acid, etc. I'd highly recommend you try some of those. They allow your body to fight off degradation and heal itself. I wish there weren't such bad side effects from pain killers, but hey, there's a yin and yang to everything.

Alot of bike accidents, it seems. When I first started riding an old HA friend gave me the best advice I ever heard.
1. Remember, no one can see you and everyone is trying to kill you. 2. There are old bikers and there are fast bikers, but there are no old, fast bikers.
I've never forgotten that and I've never been down after 15 years of riding (thank God). Many a close call though.
