Accidentally Auction Acquired Apparatus

I was at an auction a few weeks ago, and we bid on a pallet of odd stuff, just to get the chicken wire rolls. When we got home, we went through the boxes. This item was in it.

My boyfriend didn't remember what it was called, but he'd used one for expressing juice from tomatoes as a child.

I was making butter today. I thought I'd try it out.

The strainer came with a suspension rack. This was placed over a big bowl which caught the butter-water fluids.

I scooped the pot-butter slurry from the crockpot with a ladle, and dumped it in this strainer. Using the perfectly-fitting masher (the wooden rolling pin thingy) I could really press the liquid from the maraijuana mash, and then dump the spent wet buds out, and add a couple more scoops.

After it was all drained, I poured it through cheesecloth to catch the tiny particles... there wasn't much to catch.

No burny hands from wringing hot oil soaked cheesecloth!

So, if you ever see one of these at Goodwill or an auction, grab it. It worked perfectly, and I got it by accident.image.jpeg
