so very interesting, can't say i had the luck of getting the original AG back in the day
but i do remember that look, a few of the good mexicans had that 'packed on hash powder' on the bud
usually i see a post like this and it's an automatic 'no way', this is worth some other opinions

I won't be here long but you can find me if you look for me. The first IBL release will be this summer. These IBL's are the quintessence of old school rare genetics.

Is there a filter or something on that first shot? The colors just look odd to me. Still looks good though.

Do you specifically only work with Central/South American strains? I'm assuming so from your posts in Politics, but either way I've always been interested in those genetics. Especially some of the trippier Central American varietals. Looks good man!

The original photo had too much glare from the sun so it had to be darkened to bring the color out. I still have the photos from years ago when I took them. This project began as a joint venture between Eskobar and myself quite some time ago. Our goal was to bring back the old IBL's and preserve them. We began doing this in 2010. I went to the fields personally and took the stock we would need with my own hands. It was a great adventure.

Oh wow!!!! I just found out about the great offerings from Cannabiogen and ACE, and made an order for some different shit before days before finding out about the awesome pure sativas they have. I tried to get them to change my order, but it had already been shipped out.....

So now I am trying to figure out a way to scrap up a few bucks to get some nice pure sativas going.

I would very much love to get the Acapulco, Mich, and Oax and I am very pleased to hear that they will be released this year!! If I get on the ball and get a few of these others ordered, I can be harvesting them about the same time I can get some of those started.

I am familiar with who Esko is, are these going to be at Sannie's? If not, who?

Thanks in advance, I love the pics and can't wait to try these out myself, as the only acapulco anything is from Barneys, and it certainly isn't the real deal.

I do not know as yet how they will be marketed. I bought the Eskobar Seeds website names over a year ago in preparation for the new releases and possibility that we will go it alone and not use seedbanks. They will certainly be available in certain dispensaries on the West Coast and perhaps some other states. The first batch of IBL released will be the Jalisco IBL. In fact, Esko and I discussed this just a few moments ago. That should be sometime this summer. It has already been crossed with Chocolope and with the Amnesia clone that Soma gave to Esko after it won the Cannabis Cup. The Jalisco x Chocolope has been selling for several months now. We are also going to cross the Mexicans together and examine what is found. It all comes down to the right mixture and blend of tastes and aromas and this takes some time to do correctly.

I don't understand how some of these companies release strain after strain each year so quickly. Their quality control must be non-existent and their work can not be top of the ladder. You can see this in the hermi plants and low quality strains. There is never a need to compromise quality to make a dollar.

Yes, you are correct. Barney's AG is not remotely close to the standard of the strain. I have no clue what it is but it is not Guerrero plant.

Awesome man, I'll keep an eye out. I've always loved the Mexican sativas that have that almost spicy finish. Not really peppery, but sharp at the end. I think those are more Northern Mexico strains though. I've not had much experience with some of the more Southern, more tropical strains, but def want to in the future. And real deal 70's Colombian has been a dream of mine for years. Plus my GF will be happy I'm growing some her native strains then; she's from Puebla.

And yeah a lot of companies are just pollen chuckers. No care given to stability and reproducibility. Just a product of the times imo, its like the California Gold Rush of 1849 now, and most people are just trying to get rich, not worried about a good product. There are still tons of amazing breeders out there though.

Cheers man.

The original photo makes the herb look alot better..or the lighter photo anyway...the dark one makes it look somewhat undesirable..

Sure you understand how they come out with strain after strain after strain...

They take their 1, or in some cases 2, male(s) and hit it to every fad clone only strain they can get their hands on. Slap a name on it and sell them for 20 bucks a seed like it is the holy grail.

Hopefully with me living in the south I will be able to acquire some fairly easily, since I live far far away from any dispensary. I believe I remember seeing the Jalisco and Chocolope on sannies site, think it was called Xocolope. I got the Sannnie's jack, as I didn't want to put off getting that for a third time. I wasn't familiar with the Jalisco strain either to make a fully informed decision.

I love that so many are starting to bring some real deal sativas to market, I have been sick of the muddy hybrids for a long time. Just take your time and do it right, I'll be watching for the releases of the IBL's and Mexicans being crossed with each other; until then I will try my hand at strains like Mextiza, Thai's, and Malawi or Golden Tiger. Maybe even that Jalisco Chocolope cross now that I know a bit more about it than I did a few days ago. IN a way, I am relieved that the new strains are months away, or else I would have to spend many more hours narrowing down a rapidly growing list of pure sativas that forever to decide on.

Yes it is the Xocolope, looks mighty tasty. Can you elaborate more on the high from it, the website description just says "Exceptional daytime smoke with a good balanced effect." I guess to clarify what I am wondering, is it racy at all, a little energetic, or just super clear headed? I am trying to round out a box full of sativas with the full range from clear to mindwarp.

I have to agree with you on the new strain releases every year, I was talking to some people about that the other day, which is another reason I didn't pay attention to the offerings I mentioned earlier until I saw the forums at IC Mag where the gear was being run with smoke reports; I am simply tired of the marketing speak, and seek confirmation from others with similar smoke tastes when it comes to shelling out good money.

Can you please tell me more about your Oaxacan strain ?
Cheers
I found these in Sierra Madre del Sur. The elevation is pretty high and it shows in the leaves. They are not the long thin sativa leaves of a hot climate because of the altitude. I would guess the elevation was around 6000 feet or so. The mountains are very rugged and occupied by different indigenous communities. The guy I bought my mangos and avocados from has family there and without them I could not have gotten inside.

The plant is classic Christmas tree shape and flowers right around 9.5 weeks. The plant is shorter than the plants taken at lower altitudes. The leaves are wider. The flowering time is also a little shorter. It has a light cedar-spice and light fruit smell. The buds obviously have a golden or beige look to them at finish with pink to red tips on the calyxes. It puts out a good yield. The crystals give off a lightshow in the sun. It has the very small classic sativa trichome heads but they do not flash the blue hue of some of the plants I found in Jalisco. The taste and smell of the plant is quite pleasing. It is not as wild as the Michoacan because of climate but is very good quality. It grows very well indoors and out and can finish in time before bud rot sets in if outdoors.

Yes I know how they do it. I was being polite. I know of seedmakers (I do not call them breeders since they are doing nothing but pimping plants) who buy a 10 pack and select from it which is unbelievably irresponsible. If I had to guess I would say there might be 5 breeders in the world who are working with their own genetics. The rest are seedmakers and are simply crossing and weakening strains made or found by someone else.

We must see it scientifically. If we as a people on this earth all combined with one another, we would all be brown. This is what seedmakers are doing today. Browning out the plant because they are not putting anything unused and dominant into the line. It is a money game for them and nothing more and most people fall for their BS marketing.

To this day I am the only person I am aware of who has gone into cartel controlled fields to take seeds and and come out alive. I will not say I am the only one but until other people start showing photos of themselves in the fields, I am among the few, if any others who have done this. The business is full of haters and doubters and we were very careful about documentation and even for some time, Esko himself had doubts and questions. Over these years doubt has been replaced with glee because everything has come to be what I said it would be and follows the descriptions written by others who were around so long ago to the letter.

I said in 2010 that these plants would change the way people see Mexican Cannabis. That day is now upon us.
